Looking for a New Job

I have been looking for a new job over the past few months, but have really put time into the search over the past 6 weeks.

Although I know the economy is where it is, I find it crazy that I haven't been able to get a call back.

A few places I have reached out to for follow up have said that I am over qualified and that is why they haven't called.

My reason for looking for a new job is so that I could go back to school to change my career....I understand that they don't want me to run off to another job tomorrow, but I promise I won't! My current position has hours and commitments that make it impossible to go back to school and work, hence my search for a job with reasonable pay and normal hours.

I know exactly what you mean! I quit my job at the end of last semester to focus on finals and planned on increasing the # of classes next semester. I decided to look for part time work..... I was told today during the interview that they had reservations about me b/c I was too overqualified..... I was told the same thing on another interview. (I wonder why they bothered to ask me in for an interview in the first place?)

I would think that with the current economic situation, hiring managers would be a little more understanding.

congrats on making it to the interview...I feel like i did when I was looking for a job after college....no calls at all.....what field are you looking in? What are you going to school for?

Going to school for Master in Accting.
I'm looking for something in either Admin or Customer Service

If the response is you are over qualified step your resume down a notch for these positions. Don't lie just leave off some of the higher level work you did and gear it more toward the types of jobs you are looking for. Good luck!
