UPDATED: CD12 & visit with Dr. B(sorry this is long)
So here's the story. I'm the mom of someone trying to conceive. She went to Dr. B a few weeks ago for consult, sono & bloodwork. She's sure she's ovulating (she's been taking the OPK every month) and has gotten negative then the smiley face. Plus she gets all the signs of ovulation, pain in the side etc. They are going to try a couple of "natural" cycles of IUI since she ovulates on her own. Anyway, she went in today (day 12) for blood work & sono to see if the egg is developing. Well, he couldn't find a maturing egg!! he saw lots of tiny ones but none that looked "ready". She usually ovulates on her14th or 15th day which would be Fri. or Sat. but he said on this day he would see a big black spot already. He was baffled. He said he's never seen t his before! He told her she could have ovulated on her way to his office this morning. He had told her not to take the OPK test since he would be monitoring her. So now he told her to go home & take it. He will have the blood work back by around 3 today and will call her. It will show if she's ovulated already or whatever.........we don't know what to make of this. So I guess we'll have to wait to hear from him. We thought she'd be starting IUI tomorrow or Fri. but now we don't know! Just frustrated and needed to vent. Thanks!
UPDATED: My daughter came home & took an OPK and it was POSITIVE. She called Dr. B and he told her to come in this afternoon for the IUI. So she called her husband and he came home and they went and had it done. He still couldnt tell from the bloodwork if she had already ovulated or was about to ovulate. He said the egg could have been released sometime today and he couldnt see it. He said the LH was still elevated but he should have seen progesterone but there wasn't any. He wants her to come back Sat. for more bloodwork to see. We're keeping our fingers crossed!

Re: CD12 & visit with Dr. B(sorry this is long)
Now…I’m not a doctor and I don’t know much, but I’ve been driving myself crazy with all this fertility stuff for years now….i’ve read sometimes it’s possible to get a positive OPK and not release an egg…the OPK only looks for the LH surge that is what tells your body to release the egg, but if there is no egg that is “ready” then the surge can still happen, no egg gets released and the OPK is positive. Also, sometimes cramping on one side or another can be attributed to cysts…cysts don’t always have to be huge or rupture in order to cause some light cramping. Most of the time, we don’t even notice them at all. I had one on my right side at my last internal sono that never burst and was just hangin’ out int here, making me cramp from time to time….i’m not saying this is what is happening to your daughter, but it’s a possibility. Maybe she usually does ovulate, and just isn’t going to this month for whatever reason. Whatever the case is, we know Dr. B will get to the bottom of it and get her all fixed in a jiff. Till then, I will be thinking good thoughts for both of you and sending lots of dust!

She may be having an anovulatory cycle.
It happens. The blood test will tell.
