6 1/2 month old will not swallow solids.
Our little girl is a healthy baby....but, she will NOT swallow her foods - oatmeal, veggies or fruit. When placed in her mouth....she opens her mouth and does nothing with it...it comes out the sides. The only way she will swallow is by sucking on a pacifier....she eats the whole bowl/jar that way. I have a call into her ped. about this bc I know this pacifier thing is all sorts of wrong...I am a speech therapist for goodness sakes! Her doc placed a call herself to a feeding specialist SLP. She will chew some foods. (puffables) - but will not swallow...
Anyone experience this??!
I know I am probably a little too worried....

Don't feel bad.. I am an SLP also and I have no idea what that is all about.
Maybe make it thicker so she can feel it in her mouth? Does that even make sense? I also read somewhere to put pressure on their tongue so they feel the spoon and it can stimulate a swallow.

HAHA...we SLPs....so much pressure on us!!
This baby better be using full sentences soon!
I was reading a ton today...I will try placing more pressure in the center of her tongue to stimulate a swallow (wishful thinking) - she does do slightly better with thicker consistencies....but still not actually swallowing them! I cant wait to hear what the feeding specialist says...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me know what she says. I am sitting here racking my brain. 
I hear you on the speaking. I am so nervous that Liam will have a speech delay and everyone will call me a quack!!
I am all freaked out that at 8 months he says m/b/w sounds but, no /d/.
I do convince myself that he TOTALLY knows what he is doing (since 7 months) when he calls me Mama.. you know.. because he is a super star.

Actually the thicker consistency made a BIG difference with DS. And we ended up using the Happy Babies oatmeal, for some reason he liked the texture of that the best. Now that's he's been eating it for a while and figured it out, we went back to the Gerber/Earth's Best cereal.
