Has anyone else’s 9 month old have a dislike to table food???
I have been trying to introduce some table food to DS and he hates it. I put some in his mouth and he gags (sometimes he gags so much that he will vomit a little) and makes faces. I try to put more in his mouth and he WILL NOT let me put any in. I’ve tried putting it on his tray and after that first taste he refuses to feed himself.
He only likes his baby food, puffs and baby mum mums. He even hates cheerios. What do I do? I guess try it over and over again. It drives me crazy because he never lets me put more in his mouth….he tastes it once and does not give it another try.
Is this normal for a 9 month old? I cant remember from when DD was this young, but I do remember she at least liked Cheerios.

Could be texture. But remember you have to try something 10 times before saying they don't like it. The way I introduced my kids to table food was to feed them baby food, then give them a little table food. Cut up bannana, peaches, polenta, pasta, etc.

I think it just takes them a while to get used to the different textures. DD only liked really soft things when we first started table foods. Cheese and peas were her two favorites. She liked to squish banana at first, but now it's one of her favorites. When we first started, I always had yogurt, applesauce or a puree for her and then let her experiment with some tablefood. Eventually she just wanted the tablefood.

9 months is still young, he may not like the way it feels in his mouth. Jack was much slower on the table food than Hannah. He doesn't like cheerios either. Before he was a year Jack really only liked pasta, bananas and yogurt. He wouldn't even eat the baby food cereal. Now he definitely eats more things, but not as much as Hannah did. He likes pasta, bread, fresh fruit, carrots and yogurt. That's really it. But we keep trying!
ETA did you ask your ped if his reflux could be making him gag on the food. I remember my friends DS was a "happy" spitter - basically spit up everything but it didn't bother him. Anyway when he moved to solids he gagged on everything! He outgrew it, but it was pretty gross to watch him eat

My Ava is 1 year and she's not into table food at all. Dr said it's a maturity thing and she'll eat it when she's ready.
