Re: Working Nights

Ear plugs for sleeping during the day. Best $75 I spent at the ENT to get custom fitted ear plugs to block noise.

what was your previous schedule and what will be you night schedule?

is it over night or a late shift?

i always just took the same approach to nights as days. what i mean is i did all the same things like meal time and what not just adjusted it to a later time frame. YKWIM?

i work from 2pm - 11/Midnight. so I usually get up during the week at 10:30 have breakfast, work out from 11am - about noon. Check the computer and then get ready for work. Leave about 1:15/1:30.

I have a small snack at about 3:30.
I eat "lunch" around 6.
I have dinner when I get home, nothing heavy usually a big salad with chicken in it.

In bed by 2.
Rinse and repeat.

the weekends i'm up a little earlier but Sunday night i stay up until 1 or 2.

HTH

Thanks :)
The schedule is 10pm to 7am

The schedule is 10pm to 7am

so get you would get home, have "dinner" unwind and in bed by say 10am.

get up around 5/6pm and take it from there.

it takes a week or two to adjust but the human body is an amazing and adaptable thing. you'll be fine.

Well this would be for my dh and he would have to be up by 2:30pm to get the school bus so I was thinking going straight to bed at 7:30 and then sleeping as long as he can.

I work 9pm -2am and go tobed at 4am , I get up at 7:30 to get the kids off to school then take a nap from 12-2 or 3 ! Naps are a definate fo me ! Dark blinds and ear plugs like the OP said would definately help !

I just actually talked to him about it and he said when he was in the army, that is how they taught them to sleep, with naps.
I guess whatever works for you. I would not be able to do that as I need long periods of sleep.

Ive been wondering about this too. These are great tips, thanks.

I bought one of those 'cold bag' things at K-mart to put yogurt, salad etc in.

Cant go to sleep until 9 cause the kids go on the bus at 8:30 and get off at 3:30. I have to get the dark blinds and earplugs because I find it hard to fall asleep in the days.. was even considering changing the bedroom color to brown or something....

Re: Working Nights

I used to work 1 job from 12am - 8am and a 2nd job from 3pm - 11pm.

In the morning, I would stop for a bagel and (decaf) coffee on my way home from work. I would turn on the Golden Girls which always put me to sleep in about 5 minutes. Wake up at 1. Straighten up, eat a quick lunch, shower and leave my house by 2:30 to get to work by 3. I usually ate dinner when got to work at midnight. It definitely took some time to adjust. Usually on Friday mornings, I would sleep until 5 or 6pm to get myself somewhat caught up on sleep so I could be awake for the weekend.

HTH!
