Re: Snowy Weekend Recipes!!
I love a simple roasted chicken with some nice herbs. The scent is wonderful as it roasts.. and then the crisp skin and moist, fragrant meat at mealtime.. yum. Served with some fresh baked bread slathered with creamy butter and maybe a drizzle of honey.. a plate of roasted Brussel sprouts - crisp, sea salted outer leaves and a tender heart. Delicious.
And the leftover chicken can be used for a nice thick chicken and biscuits for lunch on Sunday. Shredded chicken in a creamy broth with little pieces of carrot, celery and onion - dotted with tender chunks of potato. A quick batch of biscuits to dip.. fantastic.
For breakfast.. cinnamon rolls or old fashioned streusel coffee cake with crumb topping and a hot cup of expresso for the adults.. and old fashioned oats sweetened with brown sugar and cooled with a bit of cream for the littles. Or maybe a bowl of soft boiled egg with buttered toast and a glass of hot cocoa..
And snow day desserts! Warm brownies with a thick layer of fudge frosting Or buttery yellow cake topped with bananas in a caramel Fosters style sauce.
Inspiration enough?
