Re: ovarian cyst
I have had many,varying sizes.
One dr said operate. I got a second and third opinion.
Other dr said to go on BCP to regulate my hormones and it should shrink and disappear.
That's exactly what happened. According to my dr, there is NO need to operate on a cyst that will shrink on its own based on hormones.
Get a second opinion for sure.

Re: ovarian cyst
I had [a large] one in HS.
got me out of gym class for the rest of the year (to avoid rupture) and my dr said if it didn't go away on its own (which they usually do) they would remove it w/ laproscopic surgery. at my followup appt they saw it had ruptured and that I had another small one. they put me on the pill to regulate them because while everyone gets small cysts if you get larger ones you are usually prone to them
i knew when it ruptured because i felt strong pain for about 2 minutes and then it passed.
FM me if you have any Qs

Re: ovarian cyst
It depends on the kind of cyst. I have had endometriomas (ovarian cysts caused by endometriosis). Those will not go away on their own and must be removed surgically.
Good luck!

Mine was very large btw. It was like a cluster of grapes with multiple ones too. And it went away on the pill.

Re: ovarian cyst
it depends on the cyst. some go away on their own or after each menstrual cycle. some do not go away and/or continue to grow. i had a dermoid cyst on the ovary and dermoids do not ever go away and can continue to grow. mine was removed at about 4 cm or so. i also lost 75% of the ovary it was because it became embedded in the ovary, it wasn't just sitting on top. i would get a second opinion. if you are TTC now or in the future, you don't want a burst cyst taking an ovary, JMO. i have a good gynecological surgeon referral if you need. good luck!

thanks very much for this info. We're not interested in TTC at all, but I am concerned about loosing the ovary and decreasing estrogen too early
