any one else having a hard time losing the weight??
im 7 months pp and im having a really hard time losing the last of the weight. my pre preggo clothes still are no where near fitting (thanks to the shift in my hips and lovely extra flab ive gained in my thighs) Ive always been small and relatively small... yea kissed that goodbye months ago. Im having serious anxiety about the fact that summer is coming and im going to have to show more skin. i eat healthy for the most part. its VERY hard to eat with an active 7 month old. i dont normally get time to eat. and when id o eat i make sure its heathly i walk once a day when the weather is nice but nothings helpping. most days im only eating one meal i should be a stick! I keep being told to EMBRACE the new mother body.. and well I HATE IT! it makes me nuts when i hear people talk about how they easily dropped the weight (sorry if thats anyone here not trying to stir the pot at all) i feel very alone in this battle. i cannot afford to go to the gym so i do whatever i can at home but its still not working. Someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me im not alone and that 1 piece bathing suits are in style

Eating one meal a day may be why you are having a hard time. When you eat so infrequently, your body goes into survival mode, and will convert anything you are eating into fat - even if it is healthy.
Try to eat more often - believe me, I know how hard it is - but even if it is something small and easy - a bowl of cereal or an english muffin, for example.

Re: any one else having a hard time losing the weight??
I sure hope one pieces are in cause I'll be wearing one! I'm 6 months pp and I can't get this weight to go away!! I try to eat healthy but it doesn't help. I've tryed walking and that doesn't help either. None of my clothes fit and I'm to say this but I have stretch marks on my thighs that I'm pretty sure won't go away. I'll never look/feel the sameway again and that makes me sad. I know this comes with motherhood but I thought I could get myself back. But I'm just not feeling like its happening anytime soon. I am In no rush for summer till I lose my 15lbs! I'm happy to see im not alone!!

You're not the only one. For some reason my weight is not coming off! I'm doing weight watchers and exercising and I have barely lost any weight it is extremely frustrating.

Not sure if you have done this, but have you thought about getting your thyroid checked? My thyroid was never a problem until I had my first. Having her made my thyroid go completely out of whack and it became impossible to lose a pound.

Re: any one else having a hard time losing the weight??
I had the same problem Meg.. I lost a lot at first, then just seemed to hold onto the weight... i did nurse.. and after 6 weeks of nursing I had only lost 20 of the 40 lbs I gained!!!!
Since stopping nursing, I have been running, going to kickboxing, eating better... and still I am holding onto the weight in my "middle" I really didnt know what to do.. I am now 10 months pp... and I am starting to feel that the weight is falling off.. I did have my thyroid checked and I was right on the cusp of having a slow thyroid, but the dr didnt want to put me on anything, and it has regulated itself I guess....
You are not alone... and I totally hear you on the hating that some people lose so quickly... Its just because I am jealous!!!! It took almost a full 8 months to button a pair of old pants.. which were big to begin with back then!!!!
Good luck.... hope knowing you are not alone makes it better!!!!

Exactly what I was going to say. I also can't lose a pound no matter what I do and just found out I have low thyroid (never had a problem before). I'm hoping once it starts to level out, it'll get easier. I'm 7 months pp too.

Re: any one else having a hard time losing the weight??
Totally. I gained 62 pounds with my last one. I'm now 42 so I know I am having a harder time just due to my age. I lost 20 more or less doing nothing right away then lost another 22 on WW but then i got so bored of the chicken/brown rice/veggie diet that I quit WW and gaine dback 8 pounds so I still have about 25 to lose. I am completely dusgusted with my body. I am holding most of the weight in my stomach and I feel so gross i don't even want to leave the house. I'm finidng it so hard between work and the baby (now 18 mos) to commit to losing.

Re: any one else having a hard time losing the weight??
Not eating enough is definitely a reason the body would hold onto weight. Try to at least snack throughout the day- even if it's just a teaspoon full of peanut butter (high in protein and good fats).
I absolutely swear by weight watchers, although it can be a pain following points when you're so busy with a little one. But you get used to it rather quickly.
Good luck- I've been there twice now and completely understand!!!!

Re: any one else having a hard time losing the weight??
I completely feel your pain. I am back to my pre pregnancy weight, and not one of regular clothes fit. I can't seem to tone my body. I have all this extra skin, and flab that I have no idea how to get rid. I literally have no time to workout. But I am constantly moving- laundry, cleaning, cooking. I have no idea how I am going to add workout time, but I desperately need to.

Re: any one else having a hard time losing the weight??
Yes!! I gained 41 lbs and now 15 wks pp cannot seem to shake 20 of it. I have been taking walks outside, and I do workout videos in the house since I don't belong to a gym or anything. I think the videos are helping me a bit on toning but its going slow. I eat really pretty healthy although sometimes I sabotage that when I'm on the go I'd rather grab chocolate lindt ball instead of an apple haha

Hi! No worries it's been really hard for me also. I am so not use to weight like this. I have been working with a nutritionist and she's wonderful. I have already lost over 10 pounds and it's very easy to follow. If you want her name and mumber just let me know

This is me too. I gained 24 lbs and lost it all by 4 weeks PP but, my body is not the same!!!!! Don't focus purely on the weight, it's just a number. I have a flabby tummy, its horrible. It's this huge pouch that hangs over the waist of my pants. The ultimate muffin top. I agree that you should eat more frequently. Your body thinks you are starving yourself and it is holding on to all that it can. The best way to lose weight is to eat healthy and frequently - but definitely make sure you eat breakfast, even if its just yogurt with granola thrown in that you "drink" from the container bc you only have 1 hand and 1 minute free. I know lunhc can be hard. Make sure you try to eat dinner too.

Re: any one else having a hard time losing the weight??
I've worn a tankini for the most part since having my DD and for the most part you can find a few cute ones.
When i had my first DD at about 1 1/2 years old i threw in the towel through out all of my old clothes and gave in to the "mommy body". But by the time she turned 2 somehow i lost weight and got my old figure back and was eventually able to wear my 2 piece outside of my own backyard
Then after my last DD in June of 09 I wore a tankini all summer and expect to wear one again this coming summer(since i'm due again in July). And BTW i was still up a few pounds when i found out we were expecting again.
I know from my own past experience that it personally took me a few years to get my body back, so don't give up. you will eventually get back to where you want to be, it just takes time and patience(which we all know is limited

Re: any one else having a hard time losing the weight??
yes, its miserable. dh is so encouraging for me but i still feel like a slob. its so tough working full time, getting him fed and out to daycare in the morning, coming home, clean his bottles, fold his clothes..... i need more time to start cooking healthier instead of the easier to prepare stuff.
you definately need to start eating three meals though. If its tough for you to fit it in, then try getting the protein meal shake- special k makes them.

Re: any one else having a hard time losing the weight??
I agree with the PP you need to make an effort to eat more frequently. You store more fat when you dont eat as much.
Also dont put so much pressure on yourself. It took me 11 months to drop my weight (doing NOTHING to aid the weight loss) Yet even at the same weight some clothes will never fit again. My hips are different, my chest etc.
My SIL's theory was to worry about her body after she was done having kids...yeah shes a size 0 or 2 now at 38 after having 3 kids...
After 2 years of still not loving my body I decided to go with her method
