Question about intense Braxton Hicks contrations
I am 33 weeks today and had a intense BH contraction this morning. I was driving to work and it lasted about 10-15 minutes (I couldn't walk around because I was still driving). My back also hurt through some of it and I felt like vomitting.
My question is if there is any correlation between more intense contractions and when you will go into labor? I had been reading they get more intense the few weeks leading up to labor but I still have 7 weeks to go.
Just curious.

Re: Question about intense Braxton Hicks contrations
I don't know if there is really any correlation.
With DD I had pretty intense BH near the end.
I was induced at 39 weeks due to GD, and even at 39 weeks, when they did an internal the night I checked in, I was not even dialiated or effaced.
BH contractions are really just the body practicing... and I can tell you from experience, they are NOTHING like real contractions!
However, I will say though that if your back is hurting and you feel nauseaus I'd probably just call your OB and let them know. They may want you to just go in for quick montioring.

Yeah, the whole time I was like no way this is a real contraction but it just made me feel sick Is it bad that I'm curious to know what they really feel like?
I did call the midwife and she said to drink lots of water and that it sounded like BH. I just didn't realize they could last that long!

Re: Question about intense Braxton Hicks contrations
I started having them last week at 29 weeks. They were very intense going from my back to my stomach and i also felt like i was going to vomit. It happen 4 times and lasted between 10-15 min each time. I went to my dr and they put me on the machine to see if i was having contractions which i wasnt. Then he did a test to see if i would go into labor within the next 3 weeks which came back negative. He told me to drink alot of water and rest.

Re: Question about intense Braxton Hicks contrations
BH dont last between 10-15 mins from my experience. They last less than 30 seconds. I dont think that was BH - they also arent SO painful that you cannot walk. I would speak with your OB
Also, one way to tell that they ARE BH is that they do not radiate to your back or originate in your back. Those sound more like contractions or something else.

Re: Question about intense Braxton Hicks contrations
I am not sure if there is a correlation or not. I had very early and painful BH contractions due to an irritable uterous from excessive amniotic fluid. They were always very uncomfy for me.

Re: Question about intense Braxton Hicks contrations
What kind of test can tell if you're going into labor within the next three weeks? WIth both of my kids I went into labor within hours of being at the dr. It would be nice to have more notice....

Its called Fetal Fibronectin Test. Its like getting a pap and you get the results within 24 hours.

Re: Question about intense Braxton Hicks contrations
I have had these on and off and every time I go to the doc. he says no progression. He says it's the baby lowering itself and lately since she's descended (as far as I've noticed) I haven't had them as often.
