Throwing food-what do you do?
So Ronan LOVES to throw his food off teh highchair. We have tried an assortment of things for a week or more and nothing seems to work. We have tried:
Taking teh food away and wheeling the highchair facing the wall for 1 minute-then we say OK time to eat and put him back with his food
We have ignored it
We have taken his food away and put him back in his playroom while his brother is still eating
Does anyone have other suggestions?

I take it from him and he doesn't eat. This is a HUGE issue in our house lately. I figure, if he is hungry he will eat it and NOT toss is like a ball. So far, he could careless. But deep down I am hoping he gets it.

At what point is he throwing the food? I find that with my dd she will start throwing food after she is done eating. Or if she doesn't like the food, she will start throwing. So, I just remove the food.

Re: Throwing food-what do you do?
Chels does this CONSTANTLY, and what I noticed is that she does it when I'm around...she will NOT do it if I'm in the kitchen while she's eating or out of her sight..I hate being away from her while she's eating but I'll peek in and check on her..what I also do is when she does start and I'm there, I take the food away from her, and she's done...she normally will only do it if she's eaten a good amount, so it's not like I'm starving the poor child...I also ignore it sometimes if she hasn't eaten enough...she looks at me right when she does it bc she knows she's not supposed to and the look on her face is priceless, I have to stop myself from laughing...but I do, I ignore it...it's totally attention seeking bahviour and I noticed when I used to say "no" or anything else she'd do it more for attention so I ignore it and she'll actually more than likely stop!

I also notice that he does this when he is done. I do not scold him and usually I just remove him from the seat. He is 13 months old!

Same problem here. I think this is such a hard age. We usually just remove him from the table and tell him no but honestly I don't think he cares one bit. He laughs at us.

whenever miki threw her food, I took that as a sign that she was not hungry, removed her from the high chair and tried again later

Re: Throwing food-what do you do?
DS does this when there is one of two reasons. He is finished eating, or he wants something to dip the food into like ketchup.
This just happened 2 nights ago, again, he was throwing chicken off the tray while watching me to see what i'd do. After the 3 rd time, I took the food away. He cried. After 3 minutes I gave the food back and asked if he wanted ketchup. He nodded yes. So I gave a little ketchup, and he happily dipped his chicken into it.
This age is so frustrating, he can't verbally tell us exactly what he wants, it's like a guessing game.

my boys have started this, also (they are 14 months old). When they do this, I say "ok, you're done" and remove them from the high chair. They only tend to do it when they are full.
