This might be a dumb question, but...(hospital attire related)

I'm getting my hospital bag together and the checklist I printed keeps referring to "nightgown". Do we have to wear nightgowns or can we wear pants? This weekend I just bought a nursing 2 piece set that is a shirt and matching pj pants and another set that is a nursing tank and pj pants, now I'm wondering if I can even wear them! Chat Icon

my sister packed a night shirt and pants. I don't think it needs to be a nightgown.

but maybe something easy to breast feed if you plan on breastfeeding.

you can totally wear pants. i think they recommend nightgowns though because you get checked a lot.

I wore a hospital gown the whole time. I had almost no visitors since we don't really have family here, so I was just slumming it the whole time. lol

They probably just recommend a nightgown because it's easy for them to check you and all that. You can wear whatever you're comfortable in.

I agree with the other girls, bring whatever you feel most comfy in! Since I had an emergency c-section I stayed in my hospital gown for 1st couple of days since they check you so much

I think I wore a hospital gown the first night. Then I wore a pair of sweat pants and a nursing tank the second night.

found it much easier to have a nightgown with a zipper in the front. I had a csection and could not bend to put pants on. I LOVE my robe and still wear it!

I've had two c-sections and wore the hospital gown at least the first 24 hours; after that, pajamas with PANTS.

I wore pants. I don't remember being checked that often.

I went on the hospital tour last night and they said most women wear pants, unless c-section than a gown is recommended.

I wore lounge pants for both kids (c-section then VBAC). With my c-section, they checked the incision a few times and that was it - I just pulled the front of my pants down, no big deal. With my vaginal birth, they only checked me once the morning after I had DD and that was it - again, just pulled my pants down. Just wear whatever you're comfortable in!

Chat Icon You're so funny! I'm not a fan of gowns either so I'm very happy to hear pants are ok!

Thanks girls!
