POll, no judging, just honest answers !!!!!
I am struggling with something, and need your unbiased opinions. I KNOW that we may not even GET three good embies, but in a perfect world, IF you did, how many would you put back. 1, 2 or 3. This is your first (and possibly last) chance at IVF, you are dx with Unexplained (mid thirties) and have been trying for more than 2 years with 5 IUIs under your belt. You are financially and emotionally able to welcome twins, and would consider it a blessing. More than that, you worry about the complications carrying to full term, and are not comfortable with the idea of selective reduction. What do you do?
(I am by NO means judging people who have or will be in the situation of selective reduction, I just think when faced with that situation, I, myself would not be able to do it :(

If 2 or 3 make it, I would go with 2 or 3. If u get 3, I don't think it would make sense to freeze only 1 so I would go w/ 3. If 2 make it, I would put both back. If more than 3 embies make it, I would put 2 back and freeze the rest. JMO, but obviously u have to do what you feel most comfortable with!

ITA with this entire statement. It is up to you, your DH and your doctors. I would assume if the Dr didn't think your body could handle carrying triplets he or she wouldn't even consider transfering 3.

I think it depends on what day you transfer. For a day 3, I would transfer 3. For a day 5 or 6 when they are at the blast stage, I would transfer 2.

Quality of the embryos would also factor in for my decision so its hard for me to give an accurate answer...My first feeling would be two, because there is ofcourse always the chance that one of the embryos can split... The RE will definately guide you in the safest choice while optomizng your chance at a successful outcome

Re: POll, no judging, just honest answers !!!!!
Since you are not comfortable with selective reduction, I voted for 2. But keep in mind, embryos can split after transfer so 1 can become 2 or 3 identicals. There are no guarantees that you wind up with the # you transfer (or less) and can get more.

Re: POll, no judging, just honest answers !!!!!
I don't think i am being rational, or am even in the state of mind to make an educated decsion. I can not even fathom being pregnant at this point so my immediate reaction is PUT THEM ALL IN, we will worry about everything after, I know this is NOT practical.
Dr. B is way against implanting more than 2 with me, ( I think it has something to do with me looking at him as if he was on fire when he said "selective reduction" so i am guessing that is why he is opposed )... but did say he it was my decision and he WOULD put 3 back, if it came down to it.
DH, at this point, is scared to even VOICE an opinion lol, he just smiles and nods a lot and mubbles "anything you want"...
Thank you so much ladies for giving me your thoughts and opinions, i TRULY appreciate it !! to all!

Re: POll, no judging, just honest answers !!!!!
here was my situation once we got to IVF.
fresh IVF - transferred 2 (5-day), BFN.
FET 1 - transferred 3, BFN.
FET 2 - transferred 3, BFP with twins, lost one at 9 weeks.
At the time of our fresh IVF I was 24 with unexplained IF.

If you already know your answer then do what is right for you and DH. Even when a women says she is "okay" with reduction, until you are in the situation you really do not know what you would do. It is something that I feel women may agree to and then just as easily change their decision. So HUGS to you...just do what you feel is best.

Re: POll, no judging, just honest answers !!!!!
Quality would be my deciding reason. So far I have not had good quality, so 3 embies doesn't scare me anymore. In the beginning I thought only 2.
That being said I had a friend who thought to transfer 2, went to day 5 and ended up having fabulous embies of the highest quality. Due to this and her high numbers of multiples in her genetic line, they only transfered one embie- who is now her son!

Re: POll, no judging, just honest answers !!!!!
well.....
for me my first IVF we transfered 2- got a BFP but later lost it...
FET 1- Transfered 2- BFN- btw they were blasts and in "excellent condition"
FET 2 - Transferring the remaining 3 ( all blasts) and well see what happens
the decision is ultimately yours but I would def be open and up front with your doctor about everything...

Nope, no explanation... we found it weird that it didn't work especially since my fresh cycle had the same grade embies and that DID work... we did continue the same protocol as last but increased metformin to 2000 instead of 1000....
I voted for transferring all three back... you never know...
i just turned 27 and my doctor is very strict when it comes time to transferring more but this time around because of my history i asked for 3 and he agreed that it would be best!

Re: POll, no judging, just honest answers !!!!!
I have had five IVF cycles with three transfers. The last cycle we did PGS and had only three "chromosomally normal" embies to transfer. originally RE was not on board with transfering all three however as we were not against multiples and one was of poorer quality than the others we did transfer all three. We wound up with
I am currently stimming again for #2 with PGS again and based upon my past history will transfer up to three again.
here's how it broke down:
IVF Transfer #1 - Day 3 transfer; three embies - BFN IVF Transfer #2 - Day 5 transfer; three embies - ectopic/miscarriage IVF Transfer #3 with PGS - Day 5 transfer; three embies -

Me personally would only transfer 2. I am hestitant to have a higher number of births at one time. That is just my opinion.

I would not transfer more than 2 under any circumstances. You are young, it is your first IVF, your chances are excellent with IVF ( as opposed to IUI). 100% agree with Dr. B. Good luck to you!
