anyone got short term disability before birth

was it a lot of paper work when u applied for std? Also what was ur reason for goin on it. I am tired as hell and have a 1 1/2 commute walkin up 3 flight of stairs for work (no elevator) . does this qualifiy???

I was put out a month before my due date due to leg swelling and back pain. Wasn't a lot of paper work for me. The dr just gave me a note and i had to contact my disability people.

For my first baby, my midwife put me out two weeks before my due date and my STD was denied by my insurance company....The co. had five reasons they'd approve STD before delivery and they were:

1. inability to drive
2. pre-eclampsia
3. contractions
4. bedrest
5. threat to health of baby

My midwife didn't indicate any of those 5 things on the paperwork so it was denied. wasn't sorted out until 3 weeks PP.....

With my second baby, I was put out of work ON my due date due to contractions and false labor...by the time the paperwork cleared three days later, I had already given birth!

Good luck -- just be careful how they write it up because unfortunately 'pregnancy' isn't a good enough reason for some co.'s....

With baby #1, I got on short term disability somewhere in the early 30 weeks of pregnancy due to preterm labor (and stopped working completely). With baby #2, I had the same situation repeat itself in the late 20 weeks, but I opted not to apply for short term disability because I made more money working part-time from home and was able to make arrangements with my supervisor.

Kinnda stupid question... but, what symptoms did u have for pre-term labor??
