Coxsackie spinoff
I got a note in Loey's infant report yesterday that a child in his class has Coxsackie and the last date of exposure was Wednesday.
Loey didn't go on Wednesday, but the child may have been there on Mon/Tues when Loey was there..
I'm a little sad that he was already exposed to something and it was only his 3rd day!! But I knew it was going to happen. Hopefully he's building up a good immune system!
What should we be looking out for? The paper said fever and blistery rash. Is that it?
How long do you think it would be before we saw anything?

Hey! Check his hands and feet..thats where the blisters typically start...Ds never had it, but there was an outbreak at a school I worked at a few years back. once the blisters are visible, they are usually no longer contagious, and some children never get the fever
Also, he may not get it at all, some children are exposed, and never get sick!

THANKS!
I am praying that he wasn't even exposed because they said the last exposure was Wed. and he wasn't there that day. A lot of the kids in his class a part time so it's possible that the child's first day could have been Wednesday, KWIM? But I have no clue.
I'll definitely check his hands and feet! So far I haven't seen anything. What exactly would it look like? He has excema so I am nervous that I"ll confused the two. Do they look very different?

Re: Coxsackie spinoff
also keep an eye on his mouth - easier said than done - my son has had it twice this summer and both times the blisters were only in his mouth
in terms of getting sick - my son was exposed on friday and got it on monday -the other time he was exposed on teusday or wednesday and got it on friday
it is not that bad - just a fever and blister and just wants to drink juice and not a bottle for a day or two

us too...whenever we get it it's in the throat...i believe it's called herbengoma (sp?)
ours took a week to show...I'm assuming she got it from a kiddie pool...the days leading up to the fever she was whiny and very clingy

Thanks! I'll check his mouth also...
The last exposure would have been Tuesday for him (since he wasn't in daycare on Wed.) so today is Fri... it would probably show up today right?
He's only 8 months old so we haven't started juice yet...
Thanks for the response!
