Lovenox and bruising - UPDATE

I started my Lovenox yesterday AM and a few hours later there was a nasty bruise on my belly.
What can I do (if anything) to lessen the bruising?

ETA: Yesterday I did another injection and there is a small dot, no ig bruise like the other day. Well, today I tried again and now (3 1/2 hours after injection) there is a lump under my skin and an even uglier bruise. Seriously am I doing something wrong? Should I call the Dr.?

I also had HORRIBLE bruising on lovenox. I believe you can ice the area first and it should ease the bruising. Good luck

My stomach looked like a wall of blueberries for months! FinallyI started icing right after the shot (When you cool the blood vessels around the bruised area, less blood leaks into the surrounding tissue). And now its not bad at all. Good luck

The most important thing is don't rub the area after doing the shot.
Also after you finish the injection, hold the skin for another 30-45 seconds.
I've never iced and rarely get bruising.

i ice the area first for about 5 minutes. i pinch the area pretty tight. then i inject on an angle. i inject realllllly slow. it also helps it from burning as much. most of the time i dont bruise, but when i do, i know it at the time of the shot and it usually bleeds.
i think lovenox is my most hated injectable except i havent started PIO yet so i think that will take the spot for most hated.

I had terrible bruising when i started using Lovenox. A friend suggested icing before and after the shot. Now I ice 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after and it definetly minimizes the bruising for me. Hope this helps
