Daycare Questions (I'm clueless) - UPDATED

When you drop your infant off at daycare, do you leave the infant carseat there?
What items do you leave there and what do you bring in every day?
If your infant is on formula, do you pre-fill all bottles or send in the formula separate with empty bottles?

Update:
Thanks for answering!

I just got back from the daycare and am pleasantly surprised. The daycare provides all formula, food, and diapers! All I have to bring is a change of clothes and sheets for the crib/blankets. I can also leave the carseats there and the stroller too if I need to.

Re: Daycare Questions (I'm clueless)

I usually leave my infant seat there with the Snap N Go - I do this because if I drop him off, DH picks him up and vice versa. There is room at my daycare to park them outside of the classroom.

My DS is on RTF so I prefill the bottles, our daycare isn't allowed to "measure" formula (although if DS runs out and is starving, he has an extra thing of RTF there and they will feed him). When he was on powder, I used a powder separator and just brought in the bottles filled with the appropriate amount of water.

Every day - I just bring in food and bottles mainly. They request diapers and wipes when necessary and I bring home his sheets/blankets to wash once a week. He has spare clothes and bibs that stay in his cubby until they are needed.

When DS was an infant, (he was 3 months when he started daycare..

When you drop your infant off at daycare, do you leave the infant carseat there? YEs. I always did. Just in case someone else had to pick him up, they could because the carrier was there.

What items do you leave there and what do you bring in every day?
I brough a big supply of diapers, butt paste and wipes. Some would leave a container of formula but DS was on breast milk so I prepared all his bottles for the day. He also had his favorite blanket I would leave until the weekend to wash and I left an extra change of clothes in case of an explosive diaper.

If your infant is on formula, do you pre-fill all bottles or send in the formula separate with empty bottles?
My daycare asked that you prepare one bottle and they would make the rest.

Re: Daycare Questions (I'm clueless)

To start, we do not leave the infant carseat there. If every parent left it, there wouldn't be enough room for all the babies!

As for what I bring every day:

Bottles of formula (I pre make them and put them in the fridge)

That was it when she was just on formula.

Now that DD is eating foods, I bring:

Bottles
Leave a box of cereal in her cubby
Lunch and dinner baby food
Bowl and a spoon
Extra formula for her cereal

Other items that I bring in when needed:

Sheet
Blanket
Little bear she sleeps with
Pacifiers
Spare clothes
Diapers
Wipes
Triple Paste cream

I think that's it. I'm probably forgetting something, but that's all I have for now!

Re: Daycare Questions (I'm clueless)

Depends on when you need to drop your DC off and what time the daycare opens. The first daycare DS went to I dropped him off at 7:30AM and I did leave the carseat infant carrier there till he was out of that carrier around 7 months. This daycare DH drops him off at 8:30AM

What items do you leave there and what do you bring in every day?
leave - sheets (take them home on Fridays to wash), extra clothes, sunscreen, nasal sucker, teether (take home to wash), diapers, wipes

If your infant is on formula, do you pre-fill all bottles or send in the formula separate with empty bottles?
Depends on the daycare. First daycare he started ar 3.5 months old and I had to make the bottles everyday. Now at this new one they pour the milk. Each daycare is different.

THey usually give you a big packet of stuff they need and how their center works. They're all different, open at different times and are run differently, but if they're licenced they do have to follow the states rules on certain things.

Hope that helps. FM me if you have any other questions.

Re: Daycare Questions (I'm clueless)

I walk to day care so I leave my stroller there..

When I was using powder formula I would bring the bottles pre-made because they wouldn't use boiled water and that was important to me. Now that we use RTF I just bring an empty bottle and a bottle of formula and let them pour it out as necessary.

My day care requires 2 blankets and a change of clothes. I have 2 blankets, 2 changes of clothes, an extra pacifier and about 5 bibs for DS. I usually leave an extra jacket or sweater there as well. I also send diapers and wipes, obviously.

I think my DD may have a spare pair of panties too.

Re: Daycare Questions (I'm clueless)

You can leave the infant carseat there if you like- just in case someone else has to pick them up- or you can take it with you.
Either way.

My daycare provides the formula- but my DD is on a special AR formula so I have to bring prefilled bottles for her each day. If she was taking the formula they provide I'd just have to bring empty bottles each day.

I leave diapers, wipes, aquafor for diaper changes, bibs, crib sheets, a change of clothes, pacifers and receiving blankets.
She has a cubby where I can leave stuff and they just send her home each night with dirty laundry.

We did - it is a small in-home center and he was the only infant. Plus, sometimes DH would need to pick-up.

What items do you leave there and what do you bring in every day?
We bring in diapers - a sleeve - and pack of wipes. And I left a white noise stuffed toy that DS would use at nap time. Otherwise, I'd just leave the diaper bag there in the AM and bring home later. I'd make sure to have creams/pacifiers/change of clothes,/ etc in it.

If your infant is on formula, do you pre-fill all bottles or send in the formula separate with empty bottles?
We would prefill the bottles with water and bring a formula dispenser with the measuerd amounts for each bottle. She'd just mix it up when he was hungry.

We leave our carseat there. I drop off in the morning and DH picks up.

DD has her own bin which has extra sheets, a receiving blanket, a regular blanket, extra clothes and socks.

I send her in with pre-filled bottles. We have to label them with her name, the date and what the bottle contains (total ounces and formula). Her teachers offered to store extra formula just in case. Most formulas only last for so long after you open them. So I bought Similac packets. I think each packet makes 4 oz.

We also leave a supply of diapers, wipes, vaseline and diaper cream.

I put the sheets on in the morning. DH takes them off when he picks DD up. The cribs are cleaned every night.

Re: Daycare Questions (I'm clueless)

cant leave the carseat which was a headache for us at first. since one of us usually drops off and the other usually picks up, we had to get a second carseat (found one on the buy, swap, sell thread)

everyday, I bring a clean sheet for his crib, 3 bottles pre-made that go right into the fridge and whatever else I need to restock.

I bring diapers and wipes in bulk whenever they run out. I leave 3 changes of clothes, a hat, a sweater, 2 pairs of socks, 3 pacis, 3 burp clothes, 2 blankets and a lovey there - in "his bin"

ETA - our daycare would NOT mix powder so we mixed it at home in the AM. Now he is on RTF Alimentum so we pre-fill them at night, saves time in the am

Re: Daycare Questions (I'm clueless)

When AJ was in an infant carseat we would

Leave the carseat there. Never had an issue with space, they put it in a different room. Left it by itself or with the snap & go and even in its travel system. Never mattered. I just labeled her handle with her name.

During the week, I left:
two crib sheets
two blankets

I left long standing
2 sets of clothes with socks
Diapers
Wipes
Bibs
Formula
Paci
Toy

Daily I would bring:
Prefilled bottles with water
Food (when she got to that point)

Re: Daycare Questions (I'm clueless)

I leave the car sat in their closet.

On Mondays I bring a new receiving blanket and a sheet with about 4-5 extra outfits and bibs. And I replenish when needed.

Everyday I bring DD's pre-made bottles and cereal

Re: Daycare Questions (I'm clueless)

We leave the infant seat there.

We gave them bottles to keep there and bring containers of formula as needed. We also provide diapers (bring a package at a time, not daily). Any other baby food or table food, they provide.

We also brought a blanket, two changes of clothes, and a binkie that stays there.

ETA - I also provided a crib sheet for her crib. That stays there with her blanket and they wash it over the weekend every week. The only thing I bring back and forth is her bag, which they put her daily report sheet in and dirty clothes if she was changed.

Re: Daycare Questions (I'm clueless)

We did not leave the infant seat there, they did not have the room to store them.

Every day we brought in pre-measured bottles and his lovey and jarred baby food (they supply food once they are on table foods)

Left there: diapers, wipes, diaper cream, change of clothes, extra jacket/gloves/hat in the winter and sheets and a sippy cup

We're allowed to leave convertibles and boosters too if we need to.

We left our infant seat at daycare because DH would drop off and I would pick up. I always left a few empty bottles at day care (they would wash everything daily) and bring them containers of formula and food and etc to keep there. I bring a big package of diapers and wipes too to store there so we don't have to worry about it on a daily basis. I also left triple paste, tylenol, motrin, sleep sacks, lovey, sheets and extra pacifiers. The only thing I bring is a jacket.

I would just un-click his seat and carrry it in and leave it there. Bring bottles pre-filled with water and a huge can of formula and the daycare will make the bottles as needed. Dont forget Diapers, wipes and Diaper cream :)

also an extra outfit and a blankie or whatever they snuggle with

Re: Daycare Questions (I'm clueless) - UPDATED

When I was pregnant and looking into daycare (in NJ), one of them supplied the formula and diapers. At first I thought it was awesome. Then the more I thought about it, I wasn’t a fan. That could be bc I am a new mom. Chat Icon Chat Icon But the reason why I wasn’t a fan was bc, what if they incorrectly made the bottles, or didn’t wash their hands before making the bottle. Every possible thing crossed my mind. I mean I know any of these mishaps can happen at home too, but for me I felt much better making the bottles myself.

yes! I said "Since my DCs are on Similac Sensitive I assume I will be providing that" and she said "NO we will buy it for them, we try to make everything easiest for the parents, it is hard enough getting out of the house on time in the morning so it is one less thing to worry about"
