Re: maternity leave
12 weeks paid. I may buy 2 more weeks if I feel I need it. I have been at my company almost 10 years so I have lots of vacation time I can tack on to that if I wanted to as well.
I do work from home, so may not feel like I need anymore than the 12 weeks given.

Re: maternity leave
I get NYS disability so either 6 or 8 weeks at very little pay (about $170/week) and then FMLA which will be another 6 or 4 weeks if I choose. I have also built up about 2 weeks vacation.

Re: maternity leave
12 weeks total - 5 weeks paid via vacation/sick time and then the remaining 7 weeks unpaid.
My previous employer gave 18 weeks paid and I left that job 3 months before getting pregnant!

Re: maternity leave
Since I'm a part time teacher assistant, I only get paid the hours I work so I'll be out from April until September unpaid...boo! We're just gonna have to save some extra money so we won't be too broke during that time.
But I'm happy that i'll get all that time with my LO!

Re: maternity leave
I'm hoping to take 7 months. 6 weeks will be paid. Then I'm tapping into savings, begging, borrowing, stealing, you name it I have a VERY hard time with leaving before 6 months. If I had to, of course I would but we do have some in savings and I'm even thinking about taking a small loan from DH's 401K. This will most likely be my last baby and I really want to enjoy it. On a side note, I think our counrty is terrilbe with maternity leave. No mother should have to leave their baby at 6 weeks

Re: maternity leave
6 weeks for vaginal and 8 weeks for c-section. I am taking 8 weeks either way because the day cares by me will not take babies until 8 weeks since that is when they have the important vaccines.

I'm taking off 9 months. I'll go back to work in September.
Gotta love the NYC school system, though: I get paid for any accumulated sick days (which is about 5.5 weeks ). I lose my health insurance after 12 weeks (but we'll be covered under DH). It'll be VERY tight, but I couldn't imagine balancing work and a newborn. I'm impressed with you ladies that can!!
Ughh im on leave now, due back dec 1. Im hopitake the rest of the school yr . We just have to wirk the numbers. I cant even think about leaving ds yet

Re: maternity leave
12 weeks...I haven't worked out the logistics on pay yet because I can't understand the system but I have about 8 weeks worth of sick days banked so far...

Re: maternity leave
12 weeks-6 are paid, 6 are under FMLA.. Then I'll probably try to add 2 weeks vacation to it, so hopefully 14 weeks total-wish it were more though!
Even if my boss doesn't let me add on vacation to my mat leave-I have 4 weeks vacation to take between mid-May and December...so it's not horrible.
I am going to try and negotiate working once a week from home when I come back-although its doubtful since 2 other girls in my department have kids (although they're a bit older and in elementary school) and they don't have that option
