What were your first clues you were going into labor soon?

I started to lose my plug. It was slimey, like that jelly they put on your belly for a sono, and not only leaked out (sorry, TMI), but was gloppy when I wiped. Two days after that my water ruptured and started to leak out slowly throughout the day.

Not tmi, very helpful. I know every women is different so i was just curious of all the tell tale signs. I have tons of pressure "down there" (feels like baddd cramps) especially upon getting up and have to use the bathroom ALOT. I also use to have a hard time with number 2 tmi lol but now it's MUCH easier. The doctor said i'm 1cm dialated but i know that means pretty much nothing when it comes to time. Just curious if any of this meant anything.

I was kind of taken off guard both times since I went early both times (37th week) but looking back there were some signs that I kind of ignored. Both times around week 35 (TMI Time)- discharge became very thick and gooey - probably loss of mucous plug. Around week 34/35 - I dropped a lot. With the 2nd pregnancy, the evening before I was getting strange pains that shot up the side of belly not across like regular contractions. Pains that stopped me from walking - up and down my belly. I thought maybe gas because they were up and down. The next day they continued and I was very light headed to the point I had no clue what was going on. I went food shopping and felt like I was going to fall over and barely remember driving home from the store. Went right to the dr that afternoon and she said I was contracting but nothgin regular and it could go away or continue for days - her bet was by the end of the weekend - I'd go (it was wednesday) - was 3-4 cms - I went into labor a couple hours after my visit.

As for being dilated - meant nothing to me. I was 3cms for weeks with #2. And when my water broke with #1, I wasn't even a cm dilated. My dr visit a couple days before I was barely a fingertip dilated.

I had cramping every 13 minutes that day...that was my only notice that it might be happening.

I was having on and off pains for a full day before I went into full on labor.
For me, it wasn't cramps like everyon else describes. It was more like a tightening in my lower belly- coming in waves.
Irregular at first...then by the next morning it was coming every 5 minutes and more intense.

i didnt know it was labor then, but i sat down to pee & blood came gushing out of me like the first heavy day of your period... no one told me labor could start like THAT lol

I lost my mucus plug on a Friday night. Then Saturday I woke up with mild cramping and felt like I had to go the bathroom, then around 230pm my water broke. Ds was born 11 hours later.

I had back pain all day. I never get back pain. My water broke that night.
