Re: am i overreacting

Of course it's OK to be upset.... but try not to hold it against him. It's not like he made plans to go play golf or hang out with friends.... work is a different story.

Believe me- when DH drops on me that he has to work when I was expecting him home it makes me CRAAAAAZY, but I try to think of the extra $$$$ and the fact that he would never choose to be at work over being at home.

Re: am i overreacting

It's ok to be upset over it, but it's work. Like the PP said, it's not like he made plans with his friends of anything.

Listen, today is my anniv too, so happy anniversary wedding date twin, and we had planned on going to Lake George for the 3 day weekend but my DH is going on a business trip this coming week, so we had to cancel our plans. Then we had plans to go to Atlantis Aquarium and apple picking today as well and dinner too, but I just came down with an absolutely terrible cold and I wouldn't enjoy doing anything except laying down watching tv and on my comp since there's no effort in that. So, he's out getting his haircut and I'm at home. It's not the ideal way to spend our anniversary, but you can celebrate at anytime! I absolutely understand it's a total let down, but you have many many many years together, so there will be more.

You can even go out and spoil yourself a little bit today because it is your anniversary! Chat Icon

Yes I agree - It is work and not like he is out having fun.

Did he feel bad canceling on you? I think sometimes tone of voice plays into these situations a lot. He should at least be understanding of your feelings of being upset about canceling the day.

But I don't think you can be really mad at him since it is work and hey in this economy we all have to be greatful about that.

Re: am i overreacting

It TOTALLY S*CKS that he couldn't be home for your 1 year anniversary. I would be mad but I'd get over it. You look forward to this first year for so long so it's understandable. HOWEVER, I think that if it was like "don't be mad but I made plans to go watch the game with my friends" I'd be P*SSED BUT he has to work. Especially with a baby on the way, working is a BIG thing before he/she comes.

Re: am i overreacting

i would be super upset! but i would also understand since work is important right now.

our anniversary is two days after christmas and i'm hoping dh plans something for it. but i'll also understand if we just stay home and watch our favorite movie. (i'm unemployed and we just had a baby so going out is rarely an option)

hope your dh made it up to you with a nice dinner and a footrub for those swollen ankles Chat Icon
