Help me decide which Nook for my DH!
I am debating getting my DH a nook. He is a big reader, it's actually surprising he hasn't already bought this for himself! He currently reads books on his Ipod touch, but the nook seems larger and better for just reading books. What do you ladies think?
Also, if I do decide to go with the Nook, is the color one supposed to be that much better than the one that's out right now? I know books are normally in black and white anyway, but the colored one advertises a touch screen that I know my DH would like.
Thoughts? Ideas?

My mom is buying me the Nookcolor for my bday... It has wifi, touch screen, its in color (obviously lol) & i believe its 3G... (not positive if that was the Kindle or the Nook)
I think either one you get him will be great... and yeah it will be a big difference from reading on his ipod than to the nook...

Re: Help me decide which Nook for my DH!
It depends on his needs.
The current Nook has an e-ink display, so if you read for a long time there is no eye fatigue like there would be reading on a computer or other backlit device. It has a small touch screen at the bottom that is used to navigate though the menus and I use it to turn pages rather than using the keys on the side, just more comfortable to me. I have to use a booklight if I'm reading in bed and DH is sleeping since it's not a backlit device.
NookColor is good if you plan to read more periodicals on the device, as well as if you plan to use the books in Nook Kids. It's a backlit display, so it would be like reading on a computer or iPad. Some people experience eye fatigue this way, some don't. Since it's lit it's easier to read in the dark. Since it's android based there will be apps coming out for it.
I'm happy with my current Nook and don't feel the need to upgrade to Nook Color yet. I really like what they are doing with Nook Kids, but it's an expensive and fragile toy for my kids at this point.
If DH were thinking about buying one for me right now, I'd rather a traditional one and a gc for books with the difference in price.
HTH!

Ok .. I'm kind of dumb here but a question .. He has the ipod touch and uses it alllll the time for the internet. Would the Nook Color sort of be serving the same purpose, except he could read more easily on it?
Also whats this I heard about eyes strain from the backlight?

Wow, thank you for all this info! If I did go with the original, I assume the 3g+wifi is better, right? (I know very little about this stuff, as you can see! )

Again, it depends. If he's using it in a lot to places where there isn't wifi the 3G is nice. I mainly download books at home so I'm hooked up to wifi through our internet service or downloading books from the library and have to use my computer for that. Since I'm not commuting I don't know how the wifi works on the LIRR or in the city, but I'd imagine there are a lot of hotspots and it's not a huge issue.

Re: Help me decide which Nook for my DH!
Nook in general is really nice- I have one- (the 3G one in B&W) and I love it!
Nook color is the newest one...unfortuately I didn't wait long enough () for that to come out.

Nice! I'm sure he'll love it!
If he needs help figuring out how to borrow from the library there are a few threads on here that explain it for him.
