Social work spin off
Where do you think the highest paying positions are? In what populations served or types of agencies? I know private practice must be # 1, I wonder what are the others.

Re: Social work spin off
I work in home care and get paid in the mid-50's. They don't offer family health care though which $ucks.
If you are single, or your spouse has decent benefits, it's a good gig.

No. Some of the aides are but not us.
ETA: My agency does offer health insurance but most of the cost of FAMILY health insurance is pre-tax at the cost of the employee.
If you are single, it obviously is not that big of deal because most of it is covered.

I think for many companies they just can't afford it. Imagine if every employee needed family coverage? (Especially a large home care agency like where I work).
I have also worked at non-profits before and they only tend to get a certain amount of money each year which usually does not take COL into consideration. I think this is another reason many salaries are so low, especially at non-profits.
It's not the topic of this thread, but this is why I think our health care system overall $ucks. I wish I had something like Medicaid like my clients all do as an option since I freakin' work in health care and most of my paycheck goes to it each week.
