name change question
did anyone change their license, credit cards, etc. but not their ss card?
i have my license changed and i'm thinking i need to change my cc and bank stuff so my id matches but i don't want to change with ss until after i file my taxes...

I am still changing credit cards and we've been married for just over a year.
Any reason why you want to wait to file taxes before you change it?

that's awesome!!! i had to get the "fake" card.. i also had court papers.. it was a hassel.. but good for u that they just did it!

if you are married at 12/31/10 you can NOT file single. you have to file either:
married filing jointly
OR
married filing separately

I didn't change anything officially yet. Can i change some things and not others? I'm keeping my maiden name for work and insurance, etc. But if i c hange my name at bank..will they still deposit my checks?

I changed my credit cards first when we went to the bank to open the joint, they changed all my credit cards for me.
I am still procrastinating with the ss and dmv... I hate to take a day off to do it.

Our personal accountant, DH's financial advisor, my bosses accountant & my bosses insurance broker all told me the same information: If you are changing your name in one place, change everything so it all matches.
They all told me horror stories of clients who ran into major issues because the didn't properly complete the name change process.

I really have to finish changing it. I did it at the SS office and really need to get to the DMV so I can do my cc's and bank accounts. So lazy LOL

I went to SS and then went straight to the DMV. I called my credit cards and had those changed once I got my new SS. I just changed the name on my bank accounts this week.
