If you had the Graco Safeseat 35 did you feel it was a waste?
My DD is 3.5 years old and is just 36lbs now. I am looking at infant carrier's and while I think it is great, my kids were 22 and 23lbs at 1. I had the primvo viaggo and HATED that carseat with a passion. It was so heavy and bulky. I was thinking of just going with the regular Graco snugride.

I hated the peg as well and am prob going to switch to the graco 35, my point of view is the heavier it can handle why not..

Is this the one that holds up to 35 lbs? I never used it but OMG I can't imagine carrying around a 35lb kid in an infant seat.

I have the regular version of the Graco Snugride in Platinum. Never been in an accident and in very good condition. Want it? This one:

That is what I was thinking . I changed both my kids out between 7 & 8 months and mainly because they were closer to the height requirement.

I could never carry it. I had the Safeseat and the Snugride, and gave them both up at the same time when DS was too long for the Snugride (6 or 7 months and over 20 lbs). He's now 31 lbs at 18 months (and 35.5", so probably too long for the safeseat) and I could never carry him in a seat.

We have the 35 and we liked it. You won't hit the weight limit but since it was the latest model I thought it would be the safest.

I had the snugride 32 which is close. I'm not sorry I got it. I used mine until 16 months when DD outgrew it by height. (I think they usually outgrow the height before the weight). I wasn't taking it out of the car everyday but it was sure great to have when DD#2 fell asleep. Once I transitioned her to the convertible carseat - she has NEVER stayed asleep again when I move her inside.

Re: If you had the Graco Safeseat 35 did you feel it was a waste?
I have the Chicco Keyfit 30 which goes up to 30 lbs or 30 inches, whichever they reach first, I believe.
DS is 10 months today and he's still in it. He weighs 20 lbs. The carseat is on the heavy side, but I have to say, it's WONDERFUL to still be able to put his carseat onto the stroller when he's fallen asleep in the car. No need to wake him up, which he would DEFINITELY do if we took him out of the seat.
At first we used the snap & go and we liked it. But then I bought the attachment for the City Mini and I just put the carseat right onto the stroller.
I will be sad when he finally outgrows the seat!

i wish i had gottenthis one - it was one of the lightest weight ones
my son outgrew the regualr snug ride at 9 months but he always fell asleep on the way to daycare - it was so much easeier when i could just carry him in the carrier and not wake him up

i had the snugride32 and thought that was a waste. DS was only in it until 6 months when he was 18lbs. the seat alone was 11lbs.

My Graco carseat goes up to 22 lbs. DD is 9 months and 17 lbs and we are going to switch her into the convertable carseat with in the next week or two.
It's really heavy for me now, I couldn't see carrying her around in that until she is 30 lbs!

This is why I switched it off my registry to the regular snugride. As of now my DD is 16.5 pounds and i can BARELY carry her in it. Can you imagine a 35 pound child in there? There is no way you could lift it- unless you were Mr Olympia!

Pretty much the same here except we stopped using our snugride 32 when DD was 13 months because we needed it for her little sis. Now with DD#3 being 6 months she's still in it and will be until she grows out of it height wise. DD#2 just reached 32" at 18 months. DD#3 is 29" at 6 months so we may grow out of it quicker length wise. If i had the regular snug ride we'd be out of it by now.
While yes it is heavier, i don't really actually carry in any distance. From the house to the car and thats it. Every thing else is i put it in the snap n go and just go and it's wonderful!

Re: If you had the Graco Safeseat 35 did you feel it was a waste?
I don't think it's a waste, my DD is 9mos and I'm still using mine. Realistically, I won't be carrying her around in it much longer she is 18.5lbs and it's getting heavy. The height limit is 32inches and she's 29.75 so she's getting close to the limit. I want to keep her in this through the winter and if I didn't have it I wouldn't be able to do this.

Re: If you had the Graco Safeseat 35 did you feel it was a waste?
psssssst.. you don't have to take the seat in and out of the car or switch seats when they're too heavy to carry. You CAN leave it in the car like a convertible seat, or move just the seat into different cars for use without carrying the kid in it.
I have the 30lb Safeseat. With DD1 we used it until she was 20 months, and would have used it longer but the seat was involved in an acccident.
We purchased another for DD 2 since we had 2 extra bases.
My 3 year old still fits in the seat by height and weight, but she is small, the size of most 2 year olds.
The 35lb version of this seat will get many children to 2 years old when they can face forward, and the majority to at least age 1. The seat also can be positioned more upright to make them more comfortable. This could be a money saver for a lot of folks.
The seat is not outgrown by height until they have less than 1" of shell above their head. This is regardless of height. Stated height limits are not absolute since children grow at different rates. Your 32" child may still have 4" left because they're all leg... mine may have outgrown it at 31" because they have a long torso. Weight limits, however, are absolute and the seat should no longer be used when the child reaches that weight clothed.

Re: If you had the Graco Safeseat 35 did you feel it was a waste?
Thanks everyone, ideally if #3 stayed in the infant carrier for 10 or 11 months it would be perfect because it would last me through the winter.
I will check out the Chicco also.
