annoyed - pap smear

i had my annual check up 2 weeks ago w a new dr. i asked what their procedure was in letting me know the results. the nurse said if everything is ok, i'll get a postcard (?!) otherwise, they'll contact me. it's been 2 weeks now so i assumed nothing of it.

i just got a call from a nurse saying that the dr wants to see me to discuss my results. his policy is to discuss things face to face and not over the phone. he doesn't have an opening in his schedule til next tuesday.

WHY THE HELL would you call me and tell me he needs to discuss it with me and then have me wait a whole week.

that makes me really annoyed. i'm not one to freak out but a whole week will break anyone.

i wanna say i've had an abnormal pap smear in the past but i can't remember. are you prone to have repeat abnormal paps if you've had them in the past?

aw man so sorry you have to deal with this. That's is definitely frigging annoy me.

I guess if it was something serious they would've have you come in sooner. But I hear ya, so not cool.

While I understand that the people who call you can't give you any info, I absolutely FREAKIN hate this. It's like, ok so there MIGHT be something to discuss here, but oh sorry, you have to wait a week to get any info.



Sorry babe. I have to brush up on my abnormal pap smear trivia (), but I do believe I've read that some women will get abnormal pap smear results more than once. And I do believe if you had sex within the 24 or 48 hours prior to your exam, that can skew the pap results also.

The important thing is to keep getting the tests and follow up - you're right on target. If you had an abnormal pap before and it was nothing, I would try not to stress too much. Heck, I'd try not to stress too much anyway, because it really may be NOTHING at all to worry about. It's just the whole "yeah the dr. needs to talk to you, but wait until 2014 to come see him" thing that is so stressful and annoying.

I wish I had more or better info for you! I'm SURE it's nothing.

are you for real!???!!!!!!!!! This is insanity. I would literally demand an appointment, they need to squeeze you in over people who are just having checkups imo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats silly! I would demand for him to either tell you over the phone or they squeeze you in sooner! I dont understadn how these docs find it ok to keep people waiting for results.
