CIO & Multiples Questions....

Please explain to me how you did CIO with multiples...Im lost and seriously think I am doing something wrong here.

1) Did you have them in the same room?

2) What did you do in terms of your nighttime routine leading up to bedtime?

3) Did you put them down awake? If so, HOW THE HE** DID YOU DO IT? My two get their last bottle at 630 and pass out the moment they start sucking...not even burping wakes them up!

4) How did you deal with one waking the other? If one fell asleep and the other was crying did you get him/her?

I am soooo sorry this is long....just wondering if anyone can shed some light here.

Re: CIO & Multiples Questions....

it is not easy you will get there!!

i started CIO around 5- 6 months.. this is exactly what i did.

my boys sleep in the same room.. i am lucky though that they usually don't wake each other up , they are just used to it .

they would always wake up once in the middle of the night for a bottle.. i then was told by many people on here that they dont need that bottle.. so i decided thats when i would start CIO.
so we stopped and i just let them cry, and i didn't go in ever.. i felt that it made it worse.
so it took a WEEK!!
now when i started also, i figured its a good time to put them to bed at a certain time.. so we made it 8pm .. and it really started working!! i was amazed!

i really think that once they started the solids they really started STTN and they really were full !

now they love their cribs.. when i put them down for naps or bedtime they cry when i first put them in, but then it can take them an hour to fall asleep but they don't cry, they will play!

it was really hard to listen to them cry, but it was SO worth it!!

are your twins STTN?

That depends on what your def of STTN is Chat Icon! lol

The fall asleep with their last bottle and I put them in their cribs. They both wake up like 10 minutes later and cry for about 20 minutes. The rest of the night is filled with random wake ups and crying. Usually one of them with wake at 2am and cry for about 20 minutes then the other and so on. I DO NOT pick them up unless I think they have a dirty diaper or may be sick. Other than that I let them cry.

They are horrible nappers too and I literally am still walking the house and rocking them to sleep for naps...its pathetic. I want to be able to start putting them down awake for both naps and at night I just cant seem to figure out how. I feel like I am the reason that they arent good sleepers. ugh!!!

Re: CIO & Multiples Questions....

don't beat yourself up !! they will get there!

so do you have to feed them at all during the middle of the night? no right?
well now they have to just learn how to soothe themselves back to sleep!
of course i am no expert at all , but this is just from my experience.

i changed a lot when i started CIO.. i would put them to bed awake,, also with naps.. and they adjusted when they knew that i wouldn't come in to rescue them. they manipulate you!!

and sometimes to this day one of them would wake up during the night and cry for like 5 min and then go back to sleep. because they know i am not going in there, and they can fall back asleep easily. i just check the monitor to make sure they are okay.

.... i just wanted to add that starting a routine was the best thing i did.
if you want help, i got my help from the girls on here and it totally worked!
i put them to nap at certain times a day.. even if they are awake.. it just makes you more sane!!
