Constipation- milk??
DD has officially been on whole milk for almost 2 weeks. Her bowel movements have become infrequent and apparently very painful. Nothing else in her diet has changed except the milk. What can I do for her? She's only been going either really large HARD balls of poop or tiny little small ones, also hard. She looks like shes struggling to go and idk what to do for her.
Suggestions?

Re: Constipation- milk??
My daughter has suffered with horrible constipation even before we switched to milk. Just switched to all milk this week. The only thing that helps her a little bit is giving her extra water and pear nectar during the day. She struggles to poop and sometimes shes pushing so much and it winds up only being a little raisinette. lol...We have tried everything to help her. I hate watching her go and i feel horrible. Have you tried the prunes or Pear Nectar? I see the dr this week and I am going to ask what I can do to help her.

She loves water! So she definitely drinks enough of that. I tried prunes (maybe i'll try prune juice?) cause regular pureed prunes are NOT her fav lol its a struggle for her to even get her mouth open. I"ve been trying to avoid anything binding, like bananas, and its not helping ether

Re: Constipation- milk??
I had the same issue with my DD, and still do occasionally. I used to feed her babyfood prunes and luckily she liked it. The doctor had told me to try pear juice which I never actually tried. I also used the glycerine suppositories. Now my DD is 2 and when I see that she hasn't gone for a day I put a 1/4 cap of miralax in her juice. The doctor told me I could use that everyday, but I would check with your doctor before taking that route. Hope this was helpful.

Re: Constipation- milk??
We're going through this right now with DS. Prunes have not done much. The only thing that I've seen to work wonders for DS is Gerbers Apple Prune juice. He chugs it down and within a couple of hours he has a healthy BM for that day. The next day is another story...we start all over Good Luck!

Just went through this with ds! My dr told me to switch to 1% for now b/c it has more water. Then to gradually put him on 2%. It worked within 2 days
