CPSE Evals
ARE NOT FUN
I really wish I didn't have to participate in them. Reading the reports are bad enough. Having my child evaluated by a complete stranger is just so uncomfortable.

Yep. CONSTANT reminder that your child is not up to par. I hate them too but I am learning to deal with it. I think we are in this for the long run.

Re: CPSE Evals
Are they worse than EI evals? I didn't think they were so bad. I actually kept hoping she'd fail in most things tested so she'd get the services. Is that bad?

I just think it just ANOTHER reminder that your child is not typical.

Yes, I think they're worse. They're done in the school, mostly with people you don't know, and don't know your child. Plus, hearing what they have to say is like salt in your wounds.

Re: CPSE Evals
I hear you. We're still in EI and I cry everytime I get a new report. It is not like I don't know there is a big lag every day, but I just find the reports so bleak. My DH always says we should be thankful for the poor scores since that means our child is getting more services and help. I try to keep his attitude, but it is hard the first time you read a review. Not looking forward to the CPSE eval.

Re: CPSE Evals
Just remember this:
A report will ALWAYS look worse than it should. This is to help justify your child getting services.
The evaluator is usually on your side. On paper, they have to paint a picture of a child who NEEDS services, and if they are on the cusp number wise, but the evaluator believes the services are needed, he or she will try to portray this as best as they can on the report.
I know it is not easy to see. And it all sucks though

ugh - I was horrified with my first! Thankfully the evaluator called the next day and explained it all to us.

Re: CPSE Evals
Reports always look negative. They are meant to highlight areas of need. Hang in there
