CPSE School - update

I want to thank everyone who has reached out to me via FM. I promise to get back to all of you. This has been an emotionally exhausting time.

Recap: DS is 3 1/2. Speech delayed with major sensory issues. He's at Brookville Marcus Ave. in an 8:1:2 which is currently over-enrolled by 2 so it is actually a 10:1:2.

His evals were great. They focused on a lot of his behaviors at the CPSE meeting (difficulty transitioning, focusing etc...)

They recommended he continue in an 8:1:2. I was VERY against this.

I have not been happy with Marcus Ave this year AT ALL. I looked into a bunch of other preschools.

We had a screening at Mill Neck yesterday. We screened with them last year too. At that time they only had a 12:1:2 spot open and he was juist not ready for it - which is why we ended up at Marcus ave.

SO - he screened at an 8:1:2 yesterday. They called today to say that they can't believe how much he's progressed.

They have an 8:1:2 open and a 12:1:2 but they REALLY feel he's ready for the 12:1:2. They (principal, teachers, social worker etc....) were all involved in the screening and they want to start him there. I KNEW Marcus Ave was not giving him a fair shot. All along I wanted the 12:1:2 placement.

SO DS will stay at Marcus ave until Sept. when he will start in a 12:1:2 at Mill Neck. I am SOOOOO happy and SOOOOOOOOOO relieved.
