4 weeks into BFing and my...
nipples feel like they are going to fall off!
I think part of the problem is Katelyn is so little she is having a hard time getting her mouth around my ginormous nipple And the other problem is there is 2 of them so neither of my breasts every really get a break.
Aside from Lansinoh what else can I do to get rid of the pain?! Will my nipples finally just adjust if I wait it out? I didn't have these issues with DS.
I need to get the burning feeling during nursing sessions to stop!

Run and get the gell pads. Put them in the frige while you feed and as soon as you are done bf put them on. The ones I used are reusable for a few days. AWESOME!!! I wish I had them for #1!

I had this bad in the beginning with DS. I would sit in the backyard for a little while and let my nipples get a little sunlight and it helped so much. It is amazing what some sun and fresh air can do. Thank goodness I have a fence so nobody saw.

oh what helped me SOOOOOOOOOO much was this. . soak your nipples in HOT salt water. . then when you are done put the lanolin on them. If possible rest them a little (like pumping for one or two feedings if you are doing this) if that's not possible the salt water still helps. . literally i had one that was cracked, bleeding and more (sorry tmi) and the hot salt water treatment saved my life. . i literally just leaned them over a cup and dunked them in!
some people swear by the nipple shields and others swear against them. . i have no personal experience so I don't know!

DD had issues latching. We used a nipple shield and it helped so much with the pain. The LC at the hospital gave it to me. I know some people are against them but it worked for me. I never saw a dip in my supply from using it.
good luck and feel better

Cooled tea bags also feel really good. DD used to clamp down on my nipples as an attempt to control my outta control flow, so I was sore for a long time!

I am going to try tea bag right now since I have them already in the house.
After I am done with the tea do I need to wash my nipples before nursing again? Sorry if this is a dumb question!

Same here. Had to use a shield from the beginning, in the hospital, b/c of my "flat" nipples. DS is amost 8 months old now and I still use it I know you're supposed to wean off of it, but hey... it works for us. It really helped with soreness in the beginning. And I also highly recommend the Soothies gel pads!
