Re: Question about pros/cons of epidurals WITH POLL
I was that one in a million who had a horrific experience that they still can't explain. I had a terrible pain at the base of my neck that kept getting worse (they even reinserted epidural which was no help). I was in excruciating pain, so much so that I requested a C-section because there was no way that I could push the baby out because my neck was so f*cked up. Thankfully the pain subsided after the epidural wore off.

Re: Question about pros/cons of epidurals WITH POLL
I didn't have an epidural with either of my births. I used hypnosis and was comfortable enough that I never felt the need for one.

Re: Question about pros/cons of epidurals WITH POLL
I didn't get one either time (Bradley method) but I know both good ones & some horror stories (spinal headsaches, nerve damage).
I do wish they would explain more of the aftereffects of them. Several of my friends still have tender at the injection site.

Re: Question about pros/cons of epidurals WITH POLL
Epidural = AMAZING!
Just had my last Monday. I got to the hospital at 5cm dilated and considered myself at a 1 for pain level. After only progressing another cm after 2 hours, they started me on pitocin to get some contractions going, boy did that work! I got an epidural once the contractions were no longer tolerable and was checked right after and was 8cm. An hour later, I began pushing..and under an hour later, my was in my arms.
I was afraid that getting the epidural so late that I would not feel anything, however, I could still feel contractions when they came..they were manageable though. While pushing, I did not feel much...just some pressure. Other than that, I could not feel come out or the 2nd degree tear I had...thank God!
