What do the school up in NY do for the Kindergarten screening?
I was just wondering. Caiden never had to do any kind of screening, he was just able to go to Kindergarten and since Connor had to pass a hard test to go he has to meet with the principal before everything is finalized and do some kind of screening I think?  We're in NC though so I know it'll be different, just curious!

Well I work in a Catholic School & we use the Dial 3 screening test.

They take the child in without me but secondhand info is that they asked to identify objects (fire engine, shapes, etc.), words, ask if they can write their name & count

Well I work in a Catholic School & we use the Dial 3 screening test.
DD will be attending public school in Sept and they handed me a form filled after after her screening that said Dial 3 on it so I am assuming this is done state wide, no matter what school they are going to attend.
They took DD into a room without me\ so Im not 100% sure what they did. But, they did say they had her go to 4 different "stations", each with a different K teacher at it and covered different topics. I know they asked her to cut out a dinosaur following dotted lines, asked her to write her name, go over letter idenification and the sounds they make, a few physical tests like jumping up to reach a beanbag the teacher was holding...HTH

DIAL isn't state wide. The district I work in uses it, but not the district my kids go to.

The district I work in uses a pretty in depth screening that a committee in the district created. These little ones have to know A LOT!

Like AP said the Dial 3 has 3 different sections usually w/ 3 different teachers.
One is gross motor: hopping on one foot; throwing; catching, skipping & then fine motor: cutting & copying shapes/letters
Language: answering simple q's, articulation; rhyming & naming objects
Concepts: sorting shapes, identifying colors, body parts & rote counting
All I could think of right now.

We are in Sachem and this is what was done at our screening. I got to listen in on some of it
