At that age if they were sleeping I would leave them where they were and shower. If they were awake I did the bouncy seat in the bathroom.

Now they are good sleepers so if I have to leave the house early I shower before they get up or I wait until they go down for their am nap if I don't have to get out of the house.

Re: how do you shower when home alone?

before DS could move I'd put him in his bouncer or jumperoo in front of the bathroom door and I'd take a quick shower.

as he got older and now, I'd wait until his first nap, take his video monitor with me in the shower quickly again.

Before having DS my showers were all very long, 20-30 mins with music on and all.

Now my daily showers are 10-15 mins (depending on if I have to wash my hair) and my music is the sound of DS's monitor.

On the weekends when DH is home I get a reprieve and get to play my radio again but still fast showers. ha!

At that age, I often put my son in his bouncy seat and brought him the bathroom with me- the steam is really good for them anyway!

At that age I put her in the bouncy seat on the bathroom floor. I did that until she learned to climb out the back at 5 months. These days, I put her in my bedroom in a pack n play with safe toys. I can see her, and I peak out of the shower every few mins. I need to be able to see her at all times.

When he was a NB, I'd bring him in the bathroom with me in his bouncy seat. Now that he's older, I shower before he gets up or during his morning nap. Sometimes when he's awake, I iwll put him in his crib or PNP and take a quick shower with the monitor on and doors open.

At that age he went in the crib, or in the carseat and in bathroom woth me. Now, he is 2.5 I shower during naps, or put on bubble guppies and leave the door open. Most days its during naps since i spend most of my shower chasing him out of the shower with me.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: how do you shower when home alone?

I just took my first shower today being home alone.

I made sure he was sleeping well, he still sleep squeaks, brought the monitor in with me and showered with the door open.

I did think he was crying all throughout my shower but I realize I'm crazy and would have heard it on the monitor, much like I hear the phone ringing.

Re: how do you shower when home alone?

I normally shower while she's asleep in her swing. I never bring the bouncy or other n the bathroom. There's been plenty of times she's woken up and cried while I was in there. She's fine to cry for a few mins.

When DD was that little I often brought her in the bathroom with me in her bouncer while I showered, or I showered while she was napping and I had the monitor in the bathroom with me.

Wherever she's sleeping is where she stays and I bring the monitor in with me. I used to drag the rocker into the bathroom but now i just leave it in the bedroom and pan the camera on it so I can see/hear her.

I've only showered while she's been napping so far, but if I had to shower while she was awake I'd take the bouncy seat into the bathroom with me. She's great in it and I know I have a solid 20 mins at least.

Re: how do you shower when home alone?

I use to put her in the FP Newborn to Toddler Rocker on the floor outside of the shower. As she got older she would play in her crib and then she eventually was allowed to play in my room (I shower in the master bath) and now at almost 3 years old she reads and watches movies (in my room) while I shower. Sometimes I let her go between my room and hers and I have the monitor on so I can hear her.

I never had a problem showering every day while home alone, I just always figured something out that worked.

Re: how do you shower when home alone?

DS is 2 months, and I have always waited until he is napping then put him in the pack n play (or swing if that's where he already was) and taken it. He hasn't woken up yet (and last week I even had enough time to shave my legs too!). His morning nap is always at least 30 mins, so a shower is no prob. i usually get everything ready while he's awake so I can just hop in as soon as he goes to sleep.
