Does anyone know if you can purchase drink cards that cover soda/water? And if so hoe much is it per person?

TIA

Re: Norweigan cruise lines??

We just got back from a NCL cruise on the 18th. Yes, you can purchase soda/water cards but IMHO they are not worth it at all. It is $6.25 per person per day. They have pepsi products only. I brought a case of 12 diet cokes and 12 water bottles with me. I think I drank 4 of the sodas and 11 of the waters. I also brought 36 juice boxes. We used almost all of the juice boxes. They do not give juice to adult passengers after breakfast and it is only found in the kids section of the buffet.

They have soda cards. Don't remember how much they are, we didn't get one after we found out they don't confiscate soda so we brought along some cases with us.

Re: Norweigan cruise lines??

If you get a drink from them you will be charged. If you brought your own from home, then you bring it to meals with you.

Well you need to show them your card, flag down the right waiter (not the waiter who will be serving you) and then they will go off to get you a soda. Where as I had the room steward empty my fridge the first day we arrived. Then put all of my drinks in the fridge. I would just bring a can of soda with me to a meal when I wanted it and poured it into the glass right in front of me.

One of the most common complaints on cruisecritic is that you have to flag down the waiter for soda or that they don't want to serve you because they know that you have the soda card.

ETA:
If you wanted a drink and did not have a soda card, you would be charged for anything beyond
ice tea
water (from the pitcher)
regular coffee
decaf coffee
tea

Only at breakfast can you also get cranberry juice, orange juice, apple juice. Kids can get these three at any meal.

You are charged if you get it from them. You can either buy single portions or buy the soda card.

We did neither of those - we bought soda at the store and gave it to the porter. When we went to lunch, etc we would bring our soda with us.

I could count on my hands the amount of people I saw with soda cards. I never saw a drink waiter at any of the restaurants we went to and the buffet. I could see it being difficult to get a soda, unlike on RC where the waiters assistant gets you your bar drinks and he is constantly on top of it.

I ordered one drink from them when I sat down for dinner and it took about 40 minutes from the time I ordered it to when I actually received it. IMHO the drink cards are not worth it.

If you order one soda at the pool it is about $7. Remember that they automatically add 15% tip and tax.

No. 1 soda is not $7!!! I just sailed on NCL last month and I believe each soda was around $2-3. If I paid $7 for a soda, I'd hope some liquor was in it lol

You can purchase a "soda cup". They give you a cup you can use, but they also put a sticker on your card so you don't need the cup.

Yah. I wouldn't get it. Either buy soda at the supermarket and bring it - or just get used to drinking water at dinner and buy soda by the can.

Re: Norweigan cruise lines??

I will only cruise on Royal Caribbean. My best friends parents have been cruising for the past 10 years and they went on 1 Norwegian cruise due to scheduling conflicts and they will never cruise NCL again, they think RC is leagues better in terms of ship design/space, and quality of food, drinks and entertainment.
