Anyone transition from formula to anything other than cow's milk?

DH and I spoke to the ped about trying alternatives to cow's milk when we take DD off formula. We wouldn't mind if she had organic cow's milk once a day but we wanted to know what other options we could give her. He kind of dismissed us, which was annoying. Did anyone else offer other milk to DC besides cow? Soy, rice, coconut etc? If so how did they tolerate it? Do you also give cow's milk?

You could probably try any of the ones you mentioned. Also hemp milk, maybe almond milk (she might be too young for that since it comes from a nut...check with your ped). I haven't really tried any of them with DD though, so not sure how she would tolerate them.

I have been thinking of doing the same, but I am so undecided. My issue with all the alternatives it that they seem more highly processed, have more additives, and many of them don't really measure up nutritionally...ugh

I just plan on cutting down the AMOUNT of milk as quickly as I can and giving her a more balanced diet, where milk is just one part of it - maybe one bottle a day? (of course, very slowly)

Rice milk is high in arsenic, I would be careful with that in large amounts.

And I thought soy milk was not good b/c of something with hormones? Not in the milk but is it a hormone distruptor or something?

ETA: shouldnt say HIGH in arsenic, HAS arsenic.

we gave my FA kid soymilk after formula - rice milk doesn't have many nutrients, so we always stuck with soy.
