Nook v. Kindle- what do YOUR parents prefer?
I am thinking about splurging for my dad's b-day- he is a big reader and is on the fence and I was thinking about getting him an ereader. The only plus so far, for the Nook, is that the library loans ebooks for the Nook.
If your mom or dad is 60-something or older, what do they have and do they like it? My dad is pretty tech savvy, uses the net, etc. so I think he could figure out either.

Sounds like my dad. He's got the Nook and loves it. I tried to lend him a book last week and he turned his nose up at it. "I'll order it on my Nook, thanks."

Thanks ladies. I noticed that his local library has ebooks compatible with the Nook, but not the Kindle, it seems. So I think we will go with that one.

I would suggest the Kindle only because its not backlit and I feel like it reads like a real book...although I don't know much about the Nook so its a bit of an unfair comparison

I would suggest the Kindle, just because the Nook has a touchscreen. I just imagine it would be harder to navigate...

My dad has a nook and loves it. We also got my FIL (the LEAST tech-savvie person on the planet) a nook, and even HE likes it. (Trust me. This is big. ) He even signed up for a free class at B&N to learn how to use it. We have kindles, but I'd still recommend the nook.
