Car Help!! UPDATED!!!
Hi Ladies!!
If anyone knows the answer or can ask their DH I would very much apreciate this!
My won't start, when the hood was popped we noticed all this corosion on the battery. It was cleared and the car still wouldn't start. We gave it a jump and then it started. But after you turned off the car and left it alone for a few hours it would be dead by the time you went to start it up again. Sounds like something is not getting charged right? Is it the battery? The alternator? Right now DH got me a new battery and we are gonna put it in to see if this solves the problem. But I am unsure! A new battery should start the car right away without any hesitation! Please help!!!
UPDATED 8/7/11 - After a week of trying to fix it my DH and FIL took it to Sears because they had a hard time getting the battery out and did not want to break it. Turns out it was the battery!! I haven't driven my car yet but all seems to be good. Also the Alternator and my belts were inspected and they were fine. I guess with the corrosion on my battery something went wrong! Feels so good to have my own car to drive to work tomorrow morning!!! Ahhhhh Thank You all for your help!!!!

Re: Car Help!!
I think you need to drive/run the car for a while after you jump to charge the battery or something. No clue though. Good luck!

Re: Car Help!!
Sounds like either the alternator isn't charging the battery, or the battery is dead, and won't hold a charge. A new battery should work right away, and if it's just the battery, you won't have any more problems. If it's the alternator, the new battery will work fine for a while, but in a few days of being used and not getting charged, the car won't start again..... but at least you'll know what the problem most likely is.

Re: Car Help!!
Did you run the car for a while after jumping it? You need to do that or it will just go dead again.
If not maybe the alternator?
Good luck.

This is exactly what I was going to say.
I've had to replace the alternator in a car, and what GR just described is what will happen.
Try getting a new battery but, I agree, if it doesn't stay charged it's probably the alternator.
GL!

Re: Car Help!!
My car was driven for a while and after a few hours it still did start but there was allot of rumbling and then the next day it was dead. No lights came on in my car indicating there was a problem! But we have the battery just has to be put in. Scared...I don't want a new car just yet!!! I love having no payments on my car!! Everything was running great! I don't understand!!!

Re: Car Help!!
Not a lady, but maybe I can help.
If the battery was corroded, you should have cleaned them well (baking soda helps) and then lightly scuffed them up. Quite often, the connection has to be secured.
If the car started - done It didn't so...
You jumped the battery and the car started. If the car continued to run, likely the alternator was fine. The alternator runs that car after it was started.
After jumping a car, the best thing to do is to drive it for 15 minutes to charge the battery. Highway is best - but make sure there is somebody around "just in case."
You can bring the battery to a local auto supply store (Advanced, Pep Boys, Auto Barn) and they can test it for you. I am not sure if they test alternators.

Re: Car Help!!
Thanks! I know the car was drove for a while before the car was shut off. The next day it did not start until it was jumped. Battery is being put in today a co-worker told me I should get the alternater tested to make sure!!!

Re: Car Help!! UPDATED!!!
it could be a bad battery, or if the alternator isnt working properly it will drain the battery. even if you charge the battery and starts it will drain it if it is not working properly.

Re: Car Help!! UPDATED!!!
Sears checked all!! Seems to be fine. We started it to test it yesterday...I got out there this morning to go to work and it was hesititate to start..after a DH gave it gas it started and seemed to be okay. I think because the car has been sitting fort a week and a half and the car hasn't been driven anywhere since the new battery was put it in. I think it just needed to be started and warmed up. At lunch time I am going to go out out there and start it and let it run for 15 mins. I am such a paranoid person!!!!
