Crib to Bed Transition-- This Week!! Any last words of advice?

The time has come-- just gotta do it!

Any famous last words from any BTDT moms???

She's a little over 2.5. We've been talking about it. Showing her new stuff for her room. She keeps making her Teddy a "big boy bed" because her friends have one and we are reading this Elmo ready for a bed book. What else?!

Honestly, we bought the conversion kit, and my daughter (who will be two this week, but started to climb out of her crib this summer) saw the railing sitting against the wall in her room. We asked, she told us no, so we didn't push the issue. My husband came home one night, and she begged him to change it over. It's been fantastic! She loves going to bed, and tells us now when she wants to go up. She also helped me to change her bedding to "big girl bedding" that she helped to pick out, along with changing the theme in her room.

If your daughter is looking forward to the transition, i say go for it. It sounds like she is ready.

We did the switch when DD was about 2.5 also. She wasn't trying to climb out of the crib and slept like a dream in the crib, but we felt she was getting too big for it and wanted her in the big girl bed.

Overall it went really well. The first few nights she kept getting out of bed, for a while, and coming back downstairs to see us. We put a gate up in the doorway so that she couldn't do that! It sounds cruel but it worked! She realized that once she was in bed, she needed to stay there!
