Transition from crib to bed...

I'm sure there have been posts about this before, but I need advice!

My DS #1 just turned 2 September 27th and DS #2 is due in November. DS#1 is still in his crib and has made no attempt to escape. I just don't know if we should make the crib into a daybed (w/ safety rails) now or wait until he has adjusted to the LO's arrival.

Any BTDT mom's with advice????

Are you buying another crib?

We have had DS in a toddler bed (no rails) since he was 28 months old and he was fine, he also didn't ever try to escape

Re: Transition from crib to bed...

I am in a simlilar position. We plan on moving DS to a big boy bed before DC#2 is born. Most of the moms I talk to say that it is better to do it before the next child arrives. IT doesn't leave much time, but it may be worth the effort. Hope it goes smoothly either way- keep us posted!Chat Icon

Re: Transition from crib to bed...

We have a "spare" crib at my parents that we will be using. For the first few months though, he will be in the PAP in our bedroom.

I am hoping that this week we can make the transition so wish me luck!!!

**UPDATE**

10/19
I took the front rail off of his crib yesterday afternoon and he LOVED it! I thought it was going to be an easy night! He said goodnight, gave me a kiss and went to bed! He fell asleep at around 8 (usual time) but then woke up @ 2am. DH turned on TV (BAD IDEA) and we were up until 3:45. DS finally went back to sleep and got up again around 6 (usual wake up time).

So all in all, not so bad, hopefully tonight will be better! Thanks for the advice ladies!
