Another Flea Question...
When we got Charlie from the shelter over a year ago our vet recommended that she take Sentinel (sp?) which is a once-monthly oral medication to prevent flea infestations.
It seems to be working great. We have seen 2 random fleas after doggy playdates, but never anything over that and she does spend a good time outside in the backyard and we take her to parks for walks also.
I see people talking about frontline...so...my question is...
How do Sentinel and Frontline compaire? Is Frontline safer? Is one better then the other?

Re: Another Flea Question...
I dont know much about the Sentinel. It was never offered to me. I would have to read up on it.
Frontline kills 3 stages of the flea's life cycle. I am not sure Sentinel does. I think it may only kill an adult flea? Also Frontline kills ticks. I dont believe Sentinel does that.
Not sure though, entirely about the differences. Now you have me curious.

Re: Another Flea Question...
I know there is one product that does what FL does and ALSO repels fleas...FL does not do that, though I wish it did. I can't think of the name (maybe it is Sentinel) and I have no idea if it's safer or less safe than FL. Of course with my own little flea prob over here, I googled and found a few different things about fleas developing immunity to FL....GREAT! Hope it's false, but I will be asking my vet next time.

Advantage repels but is NOT as safe as FL, according to studies (and my vet). Lots of seizures and reactions with it, so I dont even want to try it.

Re: Another Flea Question...
I think Sentinel also prevents heartworm infestation and that is why our vet prescribed it. I think for fleas it kills flea eggs to prevent infestation. So far I've been very happy with it, we haven't had any problems. I was just wondering how it rated against Frontline.
