Questions regarding collecting unemployment
I don't want to call the unemployment office just yet on case I word something incorrectly.
My company paid me severance through the end of the year and it looks like I can't collect unemployment in addition to this. Now if I have a part time job now (I'm looking for full time) does that mean I won't be able to collect later on because my full time company isn't my most recent employer? My part time job is on the books but 1099'd.

Re: Questions regarding collecting unemployment
you can collect UI even if you accepted a
severance package. I did. I would file until
you find work. Your entitled to a certain
about of benefits even if your new job
does not meet that amount, UI will cover
the rest. In NYS the max you can collect is $405 a
week depending on your last jobs salary. If
your entitled to that amount and work part
time and dont meet that weekly, you will
get the difference. this is all in here say..
I would check out Dept of Labor site.
