Re: Please tell me about East Williston

well, its small but it borders a lot of different communities which sometimes E. Williston will go by or get confused with...Manhasset Hills, Roslyn, New hyde park, and Williston Park, Albertson....

its a very good area, schools are great pretty much which ever school district the house could possibly be zoned for. commute to Penn by car is very easy but by lirr, im pretty sure there is no stop for the actual town...i dont know if Roslyn has a stop but if not, I know Mineola does and that would probably be the closest. and its probaly 30-35 minutes by train,

I don't have a lot of specifics but I absolutely love that neighborhood and the homes but I could not afford it. Not a bad commute to the city at all. The school district is great but very small. I believe they team up with another school district in the area to offer more activities for students.

East Williston's stop is on the Oyster Bay Branch, my uncle takes this train into the city everyday and has no problems. It is a 45 minute commute. Many times you will have to transfer in Jamaica. For more train options you can take a train out of Mineola as well. A peak ride to Mineola is about 35 minutes.

Houses and their property tend to be on the small side. Neighborhood and schools are good. Commute is decent but not as good as Mineola or Port Washington line.

Re: Please tell me about East Williston

I have family in East Willistorn with children in the schools and they love it, including one with special needs.

IMO beautiful neighborhoods, I happen to adore old colonial and tudor homes though.

The train station is right before town. Town itself has alot of charm, little bit of everything, including Peter Andrews! It's really close to alot as well. Jericho tpke, old country, etc.

HTH!
Any questions, just ask.

I grew up next door in Williston Park.

East Williston is nice. Don't know much about schools except that they are small (I think). They don't have their OWN town or stores etc., but Williston Park does and it's right there. Close to Hillside Ave and Jericho Tnpk.

1 annoying thing is that Hillside Ave becomes 1 lane through East Williston which can be a HUGE PIA during rush hour esp bc everything stops for the train tracks etc. It's hard to make turns from the side street neighborhoods onto hillside ave.

Re: Please tell me about East Williston

I live in east Williston. Grew up here and bought our house 4 yes ago. Dh commutes to NYC. He walks to the train but these also free parking at the station - just need to get a sticker on the car. Commute is 45 mins and he doesn't always have to change at jamaica. It's an awesome neighborhood and great schools. Fm me if u have questions.

It's one stop past mineola- approx 2 extra minutes.

Yeah, but EW is the Oyster Bay line and the trains run slower, less frequently, and require a change at Jamaica or Mineola. The Mineola line runs more frequently because multiple branches run through it.

A lot of people from EW go out of the Mineola station, due to the sheer # of trains. But, EW is electrified (the rest of the Oyster Bay Branch is not) and does have a Penn Station direct train that originates at EW on weekday mornings.

east williston schools are great......

if your looking for the trains you might also like Garden City, can probably get comperable price and garden city has like 4 train stations across town. not a fan of the mineola train station.

what exactly do you want to know? it's a great area, lovely to live there. it's completely lacking in diversity but that's not important to some.
the elementary school has a great park, wheatley is a great hs, only EW residents get a key to the the tennis courts. library's a bit small but no biggie.
as for trains, not as many run to Penn as Mineola or GC.
not sure exactly what else you want to know.

Re: Please tell me about East Williston

Umm what else do you want know? There are a lot of town building and property rules which keep the town looking charming and classic. There are no gigantic mcmansions on small pieces of property or chain link fences up to the curbs and there are tons of charming trees.... People are great, neighbors are firiendly and helpful.....

Speaking of which, is there a website that shows the diversity breakdown of towns/zip codes?

The wife and I are STILL trying to figure out what town to look in.

Started out with Little Neck, then decided to go for Great Neck due to the top notch school systems.
Houses in Great Neck were on the pricey side, so went towards Mineola and New Hyde Park.
