I just signed up for a half marathon!
Omg! The longest race I've done was a 10k and I thought that was tough! I just signed up for the Suffolk County Half on March 25th! Anyone else doing this one?
I just downloaded the Hal Hidgeons training plan and am going to start with week 2. Who else is with me???

I ran my best time at that half.
It is a little boring as you are running a giant loop on the road out there by Suffolk Community College. There is a small hill (near an off ramp or something) that comes up at maybe mile 3 and then when you loop back around it is at mile 12 or so. It is fine in the beginning but somehow that molehill becomes a mountain at the end of the race, lol!
It's a fun run and nice to do for a first because it is so small.

Good luck!! I am doing my first half in May - I am following Hal Hidgeon as well but I am starting with the c25k and then going to the half as I have the time to build up

congrats on signing up!! halfs are great races. i've done four in the past, and just signed up for two more this year, the NYC half and the MORE half.
for training i always use hal higdon's schedules. i find them to easy to follow, and they always put me in great shape for the races.

It's going great! I've been cheating and adding more miles on some days when I have a lot of energy. Just had to replace my old sneakers too so I'm really looking forward to my long run on Saturday!
