What size for the going home outfit?
I have a 2 year old DS, and am due in April. My first was 23" and came home in a 6 month outfit because the NB and 3 month were too short. So now I don't know what to buy for this one--of course I want to wash it first.
What size are you getting? NB, 3 months?

Re: What size for the going home outfit?
How big is the next one going to be? Did you find out from the ultrasound?
With sizing, it also depends on the brand you get too. I got the Childrens Place NB size outfit and my 21" newborn was swimming in it!

Re: What size for the going home outfit?
I have a Carter's NB outfit for DD. Carter's runs big so I figure it should be fine even if she is on the large side. When I took DS home in a Carter's NB, it was big on him too.

Re: What size for the going home outfit?
DS was 7lbs 11oz and 21 inches. I brought him home in a NB Carters outfit and it fit him but was still a little big. He was in newborn the first 4weeks. 0-3 in most brands where huge on him.

Re: What size for the going home outfit?
Definitly nb. My dd was born at 7lbs even and wore newborn until she was 10lbs and 2 months old. I am not a fan of clothing looking huge on babies.

Re: What size for the going home outfit?
I had brought a newborn and 0-3 outfit to the hospital. DS was 20 inches and 8 lbs 1 oz at birth. Newborn was big on him. He would've been swimming in the 0-3 month clothes. He ended up wearing newborn clothes for 5 weeks because he was on the shorter side.
For you, I wouldn't even bother with newborn sized clothes. Will you be getting a growth sono? If so, maybe wait untilt hat and see how the measurements compare to DS.

Re: What size for the going home outfit?
I brought a NB and a 0-3 outfit. She wound up being teeny tiny and the NB was too big for her. You just never know. Bring all 3 sizes maybe since your last one was big.

Re: What size for the going home outfit?
People told me not to get newborn bc it wouldn't fit. Well my 8.7 lb babe fit in NB fir the first month so no worries.

Re: What size for the going home outfit?
DD was 8lbs 9 ozs and the 3 month old outfit was big on her. I am going to take a newborn and 3 month outfit and see which works best.

Re: What size for the going home outfit?
My DD came home in 0-3, even though she wouldve fit in a NB. She was pretty big too. She fit in both sizes but I liked the 0-3 better haha will be born in a different season so I will probably pack both sizes as I did the first time around. Besides, those outfits don't take up much room in your bag

Re: What size for the going home outfit?
Can you buy something in both 3 and 6 months, then have a friend or parent wash it after the baby is born and you know the size? They can then bring it to you at the hospital? I did that for a friend having twins that didn't know the gender. She gave me 2 boy and 2 girl outfits and then I washed the right ones and brought them when I visited in the hospital. She then returned the ones she didn't need.

We did something similar except I had DH bring the outfits. I was in the hospital for 4 days for a cs so we had plenty of time. DH brought 3 or 4 different outfits on discharge day. It was actually nice to have something to choose from because seeing DS made me change my mind on the outfit. His complexion was a bit dark and the white outfit didn't suit him. :)

Re: What size for the going home outfit?
i would go with newborn and then bring a backup 0-3 unless babies in your family tend to always be that long!! (23" ).
anyway i cant talk from experience because i had a preemie but i have a few friends that gave birth recently, all babies were between 6-8.5lbs, and newborn fit perfectly. 0-3 would've been huge!

Re: What size for the going home outfit?
I packed a 0-3 for DD & the outfit was swimming on her. I was so upset..it had the matching hat, blanket & socks. I had to a backup newborn Carter's fleece in my bag and used that. This time I bought newborn.

Re: What size for the going home outfit?
We brought one outfit in each size (NB & 0-3). DS was born 9 lb 8 oz, 21 1/2" and he wore the NB outfit home. The other was too big. He's nearly back up to his birth weight now though and outgrew all his NB stuff already.
I agree though that the brand makes a difference!
