Demo Lesson on Thursday
Hi everyone..I was wondering if anyone had advice/tips for me. I'm doing a demo lesson on Thursday, and it is my first time ever doing one.
I interviewed Monday and loved the school, staff, etc. So I'd love to do an awesome job on Thursday, wow them, and get the job :)
However, I am a little nervous and don't know what to expect. Thanks!
ETA: It is for a middle school reading position. The topic is author's purpose and inferencing.

Re: Demo Lesson on Thursday
For inferencing, I usually make a chart.... It Says....I say......Inference. I would make a printout for the kids and as you are reading ask them a question to make an inference using the clues from the story.
I don't know if it is too cutsey, but for motivation you could show a picture of someone in a bathing suit and have them inference where they are. I know this is middle school so I don't know how appropriate it it.

Re: Demo Lesson on Thursday
Another question...this is for a remedial reading program position, not a regular ed. classroom.
I have 30 minutes to teach two very difficult topics to struggling readers. I am trying to fit in all of the aspects of a lesson I am used to in regular ed. classrooms-modeling, guided practice, independent work. Is it OK since this is a smaller remedial group to work just with the modeling/guided practice work? I am afraid I won't have time in 30 minutes to do all of the modeling/guided work I want and independent work.
