WW: Pros/Cons?

For those who have experience with WW, can you please share the pros and cons? The thought of counting points and weighing/measuring food, etc seems so exhaustive to me...

Thanks!

Re: WW: Pros/Cons?

I lost 60lbs on WW and have kept it off for 4 yearsChat Icon

Any weight loss program will require some amount of work. No matter what you do (whether it be WW, seeing a nutritionist, following an online plan) you will have to keep track of what you eat! Even so, its really not that difficult. I do all my weighing and measuring on Sunday. I cut and wash all my fruit, make my salads for the week, and measure out everything else into ziplock bags. An hour of your time to weigh and measure is definitely worth the health benefits.

If you think counting points is too much work, there is always the simply filling technique. You eat certain foods, as much as you want, until you are satisfied. This requires a little more gauging of your hunger signals because you don't want to eat until you are full or stuffed. You have to figure out just right.

If you have any other questions - ask away!

Re: WW: Pros/Cons?

i always thought ww was too time consuming - all that counting weighing was too much for me to deal with

i did every diet - atkins, jenny craig, south beach etc etc. but never attempted ww bc of the whole point & weighing stuff plus it is a slower weight loss and i always wanted instant results.

honestly the first week or 2 is the hardest figuring out portion sizes and points bc we're so used to having much larger portions than we're supposed to have - once you figure that out ww is pretty easy

if you have an iPhone or droid theres an app where u scan the barcode of foods and it gives you the point and serving size- real easy!

I've been on it for 1.5 months and have lost 22 lbs so far. i eat all my points and work out. I'm not a great tracker but i can figure out how many points I'm eating and allocate a certain amount each meal for myself -- its what works for me

good luck

Wow congrats on the weight loss and keeping it off! Chat Icon Chat Icon

See, the way you described doing all your weighing and prepping one day a week sounds more doable! Thanks for the tip! It just seems so overwhelming otherwise and something I might get tired of...

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated! Chat Icon

I'm not a WW follower but I weigh and measure all of my food. It just becomes second nature. I don't even think about it anymore. At first, it was annoying but then I got used to it and now it's just what I do!

I also prep the majority of my food on Sunday for the week with the exception of my salads that I make daily!

Good luck!

Thank you! Chat Icon

It's honestly very do-able. I spend a max time of one hour each week prepping for the upcoming week. I plan ahead and I'm able to stay on track. WW is something that is easy to NOT get tired of it because there is so much flexibility.

GOOD LUCK!
