Oh god no!!! Not at all!!!
I think as babies and little kids girls are SOOOOOOOOO much easier!!!!! I think as a teen my DD will be a PITA but the past 3 years..........the kid is a DREAM!!! Seriously, she could NOT be easier. I literally cannot think of one thing she does that drives me nuts. She has been an amazing sleeper since birth, she is so easy going, she always listens, she is helpful, she doesn't climb on anything, she can entertain herself, she sits quietly and reads or plays with her toys........in the right way!! It's a breeze having a girl, I truly do not have any stress whatsoever. Easy, easy.
Now...........my friends with boys!!.............I do NOT know how they survive day to day. It's like chasing after little monkeys all day. They are constantly bouncing off the walls, they never sit still, they don't listen, nothing holds their interest. I thank god every day I have a girl!!!
I just read the OP of the new thread by this poster and then came back and read this. There must be something wrong with me bc I don't understand what's so rude about this response? I don't know the poster and no idea how and what she usually posts , but this response in particular-I don't see what's wrong with it ...

Re: boys vs girls
I have 1 of each, DD is my 2nd, she was always a better sleeper and DS had gas as a newborn. She had reflux, but was what they call a happy spitter so it was more a laundry problem then anything else. Aside from the sleep and the gas they were both very easy babies. She is now more independent that he ever was but that could also be b/c she is my 2nd. They both have been able to entertain themselves and sit quietly and play. My DS is all boy and DD is all girl. I don't see one as being easier than the other.

Like you i saw her other thread and was intrigued enough to come back here and see it fior myself. Im not offended by her opinion...everyone is entitled to one. However, as a mother of a boy who, 90% of the time is "easy, easy" as she states, im offended that she seems to have negative connotations towards having a son. I didnt find all the smiley faces humorous. But i also wont be losing any sleep over one sided opinions.

Girls turn into moody monsters anyway down the line.... as seen by so many posters here.
This is the BEST line of this thread. I don't know why people are getting their panties in a bunch over what someone posts about their life! Why would anyone be offended (except for the friend) about what she posted - it doesn't affect you!
And she never called anyone ANIMALS. She called them little monkeys (which I know I refer to my own son about). The connotation of animal is different from little monkey.
Why do people care so much if someone posts if they have a great life or not? If you find the person rude, then don't read or respond to the person. Eventually when you ignore someone they will go away. HOWEVER, I find it WAY more rude to call someone out CONSTANTLY! Some of you are up Hofstras A$$ all the time!
(This is just my purely lurking opinion. And...I am a Beyotch so I don't care if I am rude LOL)
TO the original poster - My DS is a "little monkey". He is completely awesome but he is exhausting. I don't think that makes him bad! Does it really matter which one is easier? Its not like you get to choose?
ITA! I am not one to get involved in drama but this whole thread is beyond ridiculous!
I have a DS (who is awesome, BTW, should I be afraid to say that since it may come across as "bragging") and I still see the humor in what she was trying to say. Im not offended at all.
What I DO see is a bunch of posters (oddly enough old ones who have been MIA for a while) coming out of the woodwork to bully this particular poster. I find it 10x more foul than the issue at hand.

I came back to reread this & again don't see the big deal. I don't see underlying snide remarks & don't take offense to any tone. I truly think its her honest opinion. As a mom of 2 crazy toddler boys, I did not take offense to her comment about monkeys. I say it to people daily about my boys. While my boys can be good & quiet 95% of the time, they are running ragid around the house. Since I don't have a daughter, I don't know what's like but at the same time I have reasons as to why I'm glad I don't have a daughter & reasons I wish I did have one. If people can't state their honest opinions, what's the point of a public forum.
Remember, there will always be someone that will take offense & that's your choice, but to call someone out on THEIR opinion is absolutely ridiculous. I think everyone needs to get their heads out of the clouds & act like adults. It's life, get over it, opinions are just that, if you don't agree, so be it, move on & remember you parent your child, jot someone you don't agree with. Geez!

I really don't think there is any way that this thread could answer the OP's question at all.
No two children are the same, for everyone who says they have a girl who sits pretty with a halo on their head 24/7 giving out food at a soup kitchen and curing cancer...another mom will swear their girl is the anti-christ who wrestles wildebeasts and barks at rabid squirrels on the regular.
I don't think girls or boys are "easier", it's all about the individual child.
Well said.

Re: boys vs girls
I have two boys.
SIL has two girls.
We each have one child that was super super easy and one child that was not.
It's all depending on a childs personality! I DO however think that boys tend to be more active and rambunctious, while girls tend to be able to sit for longer periods of time. Thats a huge generalization, but its true of the 4/5 year old pre-k class Johnny is in right now.
All you have to do is sit and watch the kids at the park during recess. the boys are playing superheroes and running/wrestling etc...and the girls tend to sit with one another and swing or play "quieter" games, lol. Its very funny to see the obvious differences at this age!!
(And i take NO offense at hofstras post!! Sometime i look at toddler boys screaming and running and i wish i had a girl, lol! but i then i remember that girls become teens...ahhhhhhh). JK of course. If i had a girl, i'm sure i'd love it!

I am really shaking my head over here.
I didn't see the original thread until just now, but...REALLY? People actually got offended because one poster was thankful that she doesn't have a boy?
Dude, *I* have a toddler boy and I see where Hofstra is coming from. She's right--boys tend to have a LOT more energy, and my DS requires a lot more from me in terms of attention and "always being on" than my daughter does.
I just can't believe what it takes to start flames over here. I don't know...maybe I've been away from NY for too long, but people just aren't as uptight in NC as they are there, I guess.

Remember, this is also the site where you can't discuss how good you feel about breastfeeding. Because it makes the formula feeders feel bad.
There seem to be a lot of obtuse rules about what is safe or not safe to say around here. When in doubt regarding what to post on a subject, simply say "Happy mommy = happy baby!" and maybe add that little smiley dude who's holding the wine glass and everyone will cheer and agree with you. No matter what you're actually talking about.

Just yesterday I had a playdate with my DD and my friend's DS who is the same age. He is soooo much better behaved than my DD, who is ALWAYS in trouble. On the other hand, we have playdates with other little boys who make her look like an angel. It all depends on the kid!

Yes. We will be together for 20+ years, have a connetion no one else can understand and/or break, we will have our house paid off in 5 years or less, and our children shall learn no less than 42 global languages.
no *******, this is MY life
btw, who are you cncforever? I realized I shouldn't call people I don't know a *****. sorry if that's rude.
for the record, my son is insane. does not sit still. would color while running a marathon if I let him. he doesn't sleep. He HATES to be held unless he wants to be.
and he's totally friggin AWESOME. loving caring curious inquisitive, feisty, testing, and AWESOME. I wouldn't trade him for anything.
my nieces either. kids all come with their own unique set of delights and demands. that's what makes each of them so special.
oh, and I don't care what anyone thinks about my son, so no one's comments can possibly remotely upset me. HE RULES. the end.

ftr, Hofstra almost NEVER translates well on here. I have no idea what her life is like. whether it does really rock the box or whether she is lying and truly miserable....but she gets into this kind of trouble a lot so I am sure she can handle it. even if she doesn't own up to it.

Oh wait.. i have a girl.. oh and I wanted a boy. Hrm.. nevermind Carry on
ftr.. AJ isn't a terror but she can run faster, harder and tougher than most boys in her school. She'll go head first into everything (literally - see scared chin and overly bruised jaw)
I'm grateful school has cameras and videos everything cause I'm just WAITING For the CPS call. My poor kid walks around with black and blues on her chin and jaw, bleeding knees and scraped elbow. Never all at once but never without at least one.
She's a contradiction in public as she sits pretty, "plays tea" and acts nicely. Folks look at her all beat up and wonder. Umm yeah that sweet pretty dainty little girl can take care of business! hahaha
I love it! Just like mama. I was a tom boy but never as well behaved as her. I wore pig tails and braids because otherwise my hair was a rats nest of crap I collected through the day.
Meh
I am lucky to have a girl who lets me still have fun with her like I thought I only could if I had a boy. I was wrong. She's all mine all mixed up all confusing and all perfectly mine

i never respond to drama threads - and i usually don't post that much either but i read this thread and had to say something.
i have twin boys, 16 months old. I read Hofstra's post and it actually made me smile. my boys are EXACTLY like that.
i'm obsessed with my kids, but they are a handful. constantly running around, getting into things, literally bouncing off of walls. they are like little monkeys!
i wasn't offended at all. i actually thought it was cute. not rude at all. don't know why, for the life of me, that comment started pages of drama.

I completely agree with this.. and as someone who has both DD and DS my DD was WAAAYYY easier as a baby/toddler (now though, the mouth- good Lord).. But with that being said, my son is a LOVER - totally a mush- but ridiculously active.
and yes- the having a super active child DOES make parenting harder.. because you have to literally "helicopter" them. With my DD I could say, "don't touch it, it is dangerous" and she never, ever would.
Maybe it was her, and not due to her "gender" but I did find her to be a lot "milder" in terms of the death-defying activities.
I love my son, but I don't know if he was my first if I'd be inclined to have another- he is a handful!
