Crib vs toddler bed
I'm due in august and my daughter and the new baby will be 18 months apart. Considering the new baby will be in a bassinet for some time I'm unsure if my daughter should stay in the crib or move to a toddler bed?

I'm on the fence with this as well. DD will be 21 m when #2 arrives.
I'm leaning towards another crib but nothing that converts to a full-size bed later on. We just don't need another of those. I'm going to talk to my ped about it at DD's 15 m appointment in a few weeks.
First we thought we'd just have #2 in the rock n play in our bedroom for a few months (we had DD in there for 9 + months!) but I don't know if I want to do that. It's tough... I just want what'll be best for everyone but I have no clue what that is.
I've heard most children move into toddler beds around 2 - 2 1/2 years. I think 18 m is going to be a little too early.

Re: Crib vs toddler bed
We just put my DS into a toddler bed at 2.5 yrs old. We knew he was ready bc he would sometimes ask for a big boy bed. It's thankfully worked out, he's happy and we need the crib for #2. I can say my DS definitely wasn't ready at 18 months, but I think it depends on the child.

Re: Crib vs toddler bed
I moved DD into her toddler bed at 21 months, when she figured out how to climb out of her crib. I wouldn't get a crib until you gave it a try. If new baby is going to be in your room for a while you have some time to figure out if DC is ready for a toddler bed. Would suck to invest in a new crib if DC1 takes to the toddler bed well.
DD did really well when we transitioned. Maybe you can make it out to be a big treat. "Since you are SUCH a good big sister you get a new bed" with some new stuffed animals to sleep with?

Dd will be 21 months when dd2 arrives. I plan on keeping dd2 in our room for 5 months. By than I'm going to move dd either to a toddler bed but most likely just a regular twin bed.

This is a great point and idea! Thanks!
I get the impression DD is already trying to climb out of her crib. I don't know where my little baby went. Good thing we're having another

Re: Crib vs toddler bed
DD is 20 months. We just put her in a toddler bed 3 weeks ago, I am due May 3.
She is doing great so far. We painted the guest room pink and purple and there are Disney princesses all over the place. We made a big deal about it when we showed it to her and she loves it. She climbs in bed herself after I put her PJs on her!
We now tell her that her old room is for the baby. We also tell her the baby is in my belly. I am not sure how much she gets of it, but I like to use the words so they aren't new to her.

Mine will be 18 months apart too. DD does great in her crib (15 months now) so I ordered another convertible crib. I just don't want to mess with something that works for now

Re: Crib vs toddler bed
DS will be 34 mos when #2 comes in August and i have no plans to move him from his crib unless he starts to climb out. He stays in his crib until we come to get him and i dont want him to feel like we are taking something away from him and giving it to the new baby. Id rather spend money on another crib than fix something that aint broke, kwim?

Re: Crib vs toddler bed
Can u get a twin bed that has the side rails? Or only toddler beds have those? I'm not sure if it makes sense to get a toddler bed then twin? I'm confused lol.

You can buy the side rails separately and they attach to any size bed.

Dd will be 2 yrs 7 months ( I'm due May 8) we are converting her crib to toddler bed this week because she is ready and my sister is giving us her crib she doesn't use anymore for the baby.
