Care to share?! My first year hosting and I am clueless.

I would like to do lamb but besides that, no clue!

Re: Easter menu

Mine is not finished yet, but here's what I'm thinking so far:

spinach dip/crudite
grilled baby lamb chops with mint jelly

honey glazed ham
roasted fingerling potatoes
PW's buttered rosemary rolls
not sure what veggies yet

Peep cake
Nutella macaroon nests

I will have overnight guests that weekend and I'm thinking of doing my overnight french toast and maple cured bacon for Easter breakfast.

Re: Easter menu

This is a C&P from Ophelia's thread from last year

We have lamb. Shish Kebab!! It's usually the first big family BBQ of the year.

Have your butcher take a leg of lamb and de-bone a cube it for you. Marinate over night and put meat on shishes (skewers) with cubes of eggplant in between every other/3rd piece of meat.

Line the bottom of your pot with Bread to soak up all the juices from the meat as you cook and throw it on top. We call it dirty bread Chat Icon

We also BBQ whole zucchini, green pepper, onion, and tomato

We make brown rice pilaf and a tossed salad.

All of this usually follows an Armenian Mezza, read= all day appetizers, of cheese bouregs like greek cheese pie, my family's recipe differs from the link in the type of cheese used. (I use munster & mozzerella), stuffed grape leaves, stuffed mussels, olives, string cheese, basturma & soujouk (cured meats), baked clams, shrimp cocktail, croudite/dip, hummus, & pita.

Seriously, no one is even hungry by the time dinner is servedChat Icon

Dessert varies but always includes Armenian Easter bread called choreg. This may not be my mom's recipe, but it's similar: choreg We don't use a filling. Braid the dough and bake. Always make a cross in the dough just before you cover it to rise.

We also always have an egg "war" and crack eggs to see who the winner is before we eat dessert.

My sister (since my grandmother passed) then reads our Armenian coffee cups. (Greek & Turkish coffee work just as well)

Hope this helps

Re: Easter menu

I'll update as I go along, since I'm nowhere near done with it yet. We're hoping that it's nice out, and we can host outside. I'm thinking of maybe doing a semi-brunch turn into dinner type of thing...

First Course:

Pizza Rustica
Italian Easter bread

Main Course:

Lamb

Re: Easter menu

ham
turkey breast
homemade mac n cheese
mashed potatos
cinnamon apples
sauteed carrots & peas in the pod
biscuts

and for dessert, i know my sister is bringing a smores pie - i have to wait and see if my mom or MIL are bringing anything before i decide what i make. i was thinking of making a cheesecake though.

skipping apps this year bc it always winds up being too much food. there's 9 or 10 of us.

Re: Easter menu

My family is Greek so we will have a traditional Greek Easter meal which includes:

Roasted lamb
lemon potatoes
Greek salad
Moussaka
Cold antipasta (olives, feta cheese, hummus, taramosalata, tzatziki, stuffed grape leaves, etc.)

I think I'm also going to make a spanakopita (spinach pie).
