Most useful classes???

I'm taking the 6 hour childbirth class at Winthrop on may 20th.

I was just wondering what other classes are useful to take.

Should I take the breast feeding class or Lamaze??

I have no idea which classes are actually useful, but I signed up for breastfeeding and infant-child CPR

I only took the childbirth class and didn't even find that helpful.

I did not take a breast feeding class cause I FF but that would be the only one that I would have signed up for.

Most things are learn as you go cause each baby is different.

looking back on it...i would just watch tutorials on utube or something. i took a baby care class and eh and an 8 hour childbirth class...eh.

i am sure if you know zerrrro about babies and vaginas it would be helpful...but if you have even read what to expect or hang out here alot ,, i dont knwo if its worth the money.

I took a baby care class that was pretty much a WASTE!

I took the breastfeeding class through Winthrop & found that to be helpful/lots of info

I got the Laugh & Learn about Childbirth DVD and all it did was scare me

is childbirth class = lamaze>?? i was looking into lamaze.. not a childbirth class.. and definetely wanted breast feeding as well..

I didn't take a single class and didnt miss it a single bit. If one us having a medicated birth, I'm not sure what the point of a birth class would be?

If anything, I think a nursing class may be helpful.

I took a newborn infant care class and thought it was helpful. However, once you bring baby home from the hospital, it's on the job training. Learn as you go. I could've taken all the classes in the world and read a million books and still learned by trial and error. i don't regret it though, I'd recommend it.

I wish I took a breastfeeding class because I didn't really understand how hard it really is until I started it.

I recommend a labor and delivery class that is given by your hospital. I am someone who has worked in L+D and still got a lot out of it because many hospitals policies are different and it was nice knowing what to expect there. Plus it's good for the men too.

Just got back from nsuh Lamaze class and it was ok. You definitely learn some breathing techniques and it's good to have DH a bit prepared to what's going to happen. They went thru a bunch of things that could make labor shorter and how to get your breech baby to turn. I thought overall with the hospital tour it was worth it.

So far, I've taken South Nassau's Preparation for Breastfeeding class and the Prepared Childbirth class.

I found the BFing class very helpful. I knew some of the info from reading the boards, but I think the best part was having DH hear all of it, so that he's prepared to be my partner as I attempt to breastfeed.

The Prepared Childbirth class, which I took yesterday, was okay. We only spent a little time on the actual breathing techniques. I knew a lot of the information that she reviewed regarding dilation and effacement, and honestly, at times, all the info was more anxiety-provoking than anything else. Again, I felt that it was great for DH, b/c he isn't one to seek out this information or pick up What To Expect and read it, so it was good for him to hear everything from someone other than me.

We are taking Infant CPR next week. I am CPR certified for children and adults, but we only went over infants once, about 4 years ago, so I felt that it was important for me to go, and very important for DH.

I decided not to take Baby Care. I've heard that a lot of it is not that useful, and that you can pretty much learn it all as you go. I've also had a lot of experience with babies.

Well, the only class I took was a birthing class and I found it very useful.

I took an accelerated Bradley Method class (12 wks' classes were taught in an 8wk session). I think this class made a HUGE difference in how I approached childbirth.

I was able to have three drug-free deliveries and I attribute that partly to the Bradley class I took.

Where did you ladies take the Bradley Course? That's what we're most interested in.

We took our Bradley class at Om Shanti Om Yoga Studio in Sayville with Amy Gribbin. Amy was awesome.

and

I just got the DVD Laugh and Learn about Childbirth and am on series 4.

I found them all helpful but, Im one of the people where I can NEVER get too much information.
