Pap Smear at 32 weeks, really?!?
My Dr mentioned having this done at my 32 week appt tomorrow. Did anyone else have this done? I don't remember having this with DS1.
I'm a little scared

I was told it wasn't done on pregnant women, even if you are due for it.

Not true. They do one during your pregnancy. I had mine done at 20 weeks when I changed Drs cause the 1st Dr never sent out my pap for results..

Oh that sucks!
I know my first OB told me that in my first PG, so I figured they all say that. Interesting. Now I am going to ask my OB this time.

Hmmm...maybe he means the strep b test? I believe they take a swab from the vagina for that

Re: Pap Smear at 32 weeks, really?!?
My regular OB did it right when we first started TTC , she said even thiugh I wasn't due for it for another few months better to do it so I wouldn't have to do it during pregnancy.

I had one done at my first OB appt. Why are you scared? They shouldn't hurt. Have you ever gotten one before? Don't worry!!

If you are overdue for one, they will do one. Ive never heard of doing one that late into pregnancy though. I had mine when I was about 8 weeks along.

I guess every doctor is different. I was due for one last month and was told they don't do them on pregnant women. But either way it doesn't hurt, if that's what you're worried about.

Are you sure it's not a strep B test?

I get them annually and had one at the beginning of my pregnancy, so i'm not worried about the pain or anything, it's just them poking and proding around down there at this stage in my pregnancy. I started to dialate at this point in my last pregnancy, so I'm worried that this could start things in motion.
The strep B test would make complete sense! I bet that is what is it and she just described it to me as if it was a pap smear type of procedure (swabbing, etc). Makes sense now
Thanks all!

No idea. I think I actually just became pregnant when I had my pap so I'm not due anyway.

I had one at 8 weeks. Maybe he meant the Strep test but, I also thought that was around 36 weeks?

Re: Pap Smear at 32 weeks, really?!?
Never had a pap during pregnancy. MY OB always waited and did it at my 6 week postpartum visit. I would guess it is the Strep B test!
